if anyone is ever in cuenca (which is a gorgeous city i recommend visiting) i HIGHLY recommend staying here at the hostel de la luz. its incredibly cute and quirky, with amazing artwork by one of the owners, pepa, downstairs, beautiful balconies in the 2nd floor rooms and gorgeous plants on the balconies and outside. the balconies provide amazing views of cuenca and the location is right next to the gorgeous rio jucar. the hostel is comfortable, clean, and if youre lucky youll get to see some of the owners adorable dogs. the owners, pepa and jesus, are incredibly kind and hospitable hosts and made the stay so much better. pepa is so sweet and jesus will bring a smile to your face. the hostel is in a cute neighborhood, right next to a church and some great graffiti artwork. cuenca is a hidden gem of spain and this hostel is the gem of cuenca, ill definitely be returning with more friends to share the great experience i had here.

This by far has been my best vacation ever! From making the reservation, to having to add a day due to travel, to getting there, to every experience that I had while there - each of these experiences was of the highest quality. ely The activities, the food, the room and the overall guest service was absolutely fantastic. If you need a place to renew your spirit or just plain relax, this is the place to go.

Being that this is my third visit to Spain, I spent one of the best month in my life at the Hostal de la Luz (from 07/07/18-08/04/18). Pepa and Jesus (the owners of the Hostal) are the most marvelous people you will ever meet. They don't treat you like a guest but like a family member. They made my stay a very wondeful one. They were able to educate me in the history of Cuenca, cultural places to visit, and assisted me with any plans I made. I traveled to Cuenca on a study abroad program from Texas State University to learn Spanish literature and culture. What can I say about the Hostal? The accomodations, food, service, and clealiness was incredible. I was provided three meals a day. Breakfast was typical Spanish breakfast. Lunches and dinners where outstanding gourmet meals from the region. The rooms were serviced everyday. I can't wait to return again and would greatly recommend this Hostal. Love always Frank...

    • Great location near the old town, lovely welcoming staff!

Clean and comfortable room in a lovely quirky old house, Tastefully decorated with individual pieces of furniture, mirrors, posters, etc. Very welcoming hosts. Great choice, would recommend to anyone who appreciates individuality and shuns the 'corporate'! It is near a road, so can be a bit noisy.

    • Wonderful staff and surprisingly beautiful rooms

Each room had its own cute Juliette balcony with flowers, there are pets allowed, they have dogs that are quiet but fun to play with, and the owners are SO kind and helpful. We missed a train and they offered to help us find another with the help of my terrible spanish and miming. They also fed us and made us coffee which was incredible. Definitely take the riverside walk up to the old city, only about 10 minutes and more in the shade. If you want to feel like youe at home, definitely visit this place.
