    • BEWARE Holiday Inn Winchester Fining Paying Guests !!!

      Reviewed 14 March 2020

Absolute unacceptable behaviour towards their paying guests. We visited this hotel to hold a business meeting where I paid for hotel services after they had introduced ParkingEye automated parking fine system. Because we were unaware of their NEW system and didnt log our number plate upon arrival Holiday Inn have their parking control company send fines, followed by aggressive and threatening letters to pay on top of the services we paid for in the hotel, despite sending them proof of purchase receipts !! Even their own Company Policy on their website States parking is free, But this is false. I now have to fight this in court as an unfair and disproportionate action towards their so called valued hotel guests. I would encourage anyone else who has received the same treatment from this Hotel to share their experience as I have here. Shame on you Holiday Inn for preying on your guests, do not park or use this hotel !

    • Better than it looks

OK at first sight the hotel looks like an unpainted IKEA, but inside it all changes. We were staying here for one night and to use as a car park for fourteen days while we went on a cruise. At reception we were met with some very friendly and helpful staff, who explained how it all works. The room was great, being tired we opted to stay in the hotel for dinner. There are some good deals to be had and these are posted around the hotel but not on the table, so you do have to ask for them. The food was good, however, one tiny niggle. Like a lot of places these days they added a discretionary gratuity to the bill. Of course you can deduct this, but this makes you look mean in front of some very hardworking staff, especially as what I was going to tip was a little less than what they asked for, it's not a good look. The morning after we were taken to Southampton by taxi and of course returned after the cruise, this all worked very well.

    • A very good stay for a Holiday Inn

We stayed here as part of a Paultons Park break. There were slightly closer hotels but selected this once as it looked more modern, cleaner and better reviews. When we arrived, the room wasn't suitable for our family. I had phoned in advance to confirm requirements but these were not met which was a bit frustrating however, Antonio on reception was lovely. He was so friendly as was honest with us in that the room would be too small. I was a bit annoyed by Veronika on reception who was dealing with a separate customer at the time but was clearly looking over Antonio's shoulder and piped up to say i'd have to pay another 30 for a larger room - I asked why when i'd booked accordingly but the hotel wasn't fulfilling my requirements. She said I'll be kind and do it for 20!! She was very condescending and I thought this was a money grabbing exercise. Antonio overruled and allocated a large room with space for the children. Tony the porter was also lovely, sorted getting a cot to our room straight away and was very friendly and personable. Good service goes a long way these days so a definite thank you and commendation to ANTONIO and TONY. the beds were pretty good, noisy air con unit though and the room was a bit dark but aside from that, everywhere was clean. The breakfast waitress the next morning was soooo miserable but we just ignored this. The breakfast was great, best I've had in a hotel for some time. Good quality sausages and a nice selection. We would stay again!

    • No1 Holiday Inn

It's a great place to stay. The staff on reception were friendly and helpful - I wish I'd noted their names so I could give them a special shout out. We stayed in a family room which was clean and comfortable. It was quite - no noise from the traffic or other guests. You can park for free - just remember to log your car reg at the points by reception. I would definately recommend staying here. My daughter (9 years) thought: The hotel room was so spacey and the bed was so soft and comfy. The staff were so friendly and lovely and were happy to help out. The bathroom had an odd green light under the sink (I didn't understand that). And the plug in the shower was in the middle of the bath which made it easy to get your foot jabbed by it. The TV was tiny so laying in bed felt like you were watching something on your phone. Our view was a hill which had grass growing from it (not the best view to be honest.) But altogether if I was passing through Winchester with my parents again I think we would book another stay to this place because it was great.

Id like to mention and give a huge huge Thank you to Veronika and Antonio from the front desk (sorry if I miss spelt your names) for being an absolute delight and bearing with my 2 year old running around. I cannot think of the words to describe your service and professionalism and all round amazing people. Thank you so so so much. I really appreciate it. The restaurant staff and chefs were amazing too. The food was so good especially the sticky toffee pudding. I would come back here just for it. All the staff tolerated my 2 year old very well and entertaining him thank you so much. Everyone here staff wise was really nice and friendly. I would 1000% come back here and recommend this hotel to my friends because it was worth every single penny spend and more. Thank you so much and see you again soon
