    • Extremely Disappointed

      Reviewed 18 September 2019

What started out as a Staycation with my children in September 2019 turned out to be anything but a pleasant stay. Check in was smooth, where we got upgraded to a Club / Executive Room although I was quite happy with my original choice as this would be a rare moment I am staying with my little ones on a personal rather than a business visit. Thus, not having Club / Executive Lounge access was not my list of priority. Needless, the kids were excited for the Club / Executive access as it meant evening cocktails and finger food - which they love very much in all our Club visits. At the Club lounger, however, our joy took a sudden U-turn with the following: 1. Insects flying freely around the open food section; 2. Hair trapped on carrot stick; 3. Served a new bottle of Chardonnay that has gone a little off; and 4. Smelly annex toilets.. The response to the above were not promptly met, and in fact, there were denials to begin with. It is no wonder that I noticed some patrons just walking away rather abruptly. Then, it was time to explore some of the dining options, which the Hotel website loudly proclaims: "The wide range of dining options at Holiday Inn Kuala Lumpur Glenmarie includes Kites Restaurant, serving international and Malaysian favourites, Fu-Rin Japanese restaurant, Phoenix Chinese restaurant and The Mix a lively spot to meet friends." We were already thinking of dining at The Mix, where the in room brochure promoted "buffalo wings" - exactly what my boy loves. And with some Wine for me, that would have been perfect. This is what the website had to say about "The Mix": "A cozy modern interior, The Mix offers a dedicated private dining area, the main bar where you catch all the action. The menu offers local and Western specialties, all time favorite comfort food and light bites. Closed on 29th April till 1st May 2019. Operation Hours Monday to Saturday : 5.00pm to 1.00am Closed on Sundays and Public Holidays". We even told the Club personnel of our intention to dine at The Mix, and where he promptly sent for a buggy to take us there. On arrival at The Mix, what we saw was totally different from what was portrayed. And to add insult, we were told that children was not allowed in. "Okay". We decided then to have the Japanese restaurant instead. I mean, what can go wrong? And this is what the website promises: "Fu Rin Japanese Restaurant with its cosy and relaxing interior decor makes an ideal venue for a perfect dining experience. An exceptional Japanese menu makes Fu Rin the quintessential choice for fine dining in the city. Closed on, 1st May 2019 in lieu of Labour Day. Operation Hours: Lunch : 12 noon to 2:30pm Dinner : 6:30pm to 10:30pm". On arrival at the door steps of Fu Rin, we were greeted by empty sushi / sashimi counters - with a lone staff taking us to the table. At this moment, both my children felt very uncomfortable as it was a very eerie feeling that something is not quite right. It was at this stage that my children were adamant they were not going to stay for another night. I promptly checked out without staying a night. Thus, I would advise that you do book your stays here with caution and with minimal expectations.

    • Plenty of room to get better

      Reviewed 29 August 2019

Sooooooo much potential. They have the most stunning foyer and open area on arrival. There is a cafe there but it doesn't open until 9am?? What's the point. Missing sales here for a light breakfast. If you want breakfast you have to go to the restaurant. You can see the muffins in the case and the coffee machine is off. There are plenty of Westerners staying so I think they should open the cafe early. The room was clean but the bathroom needs a fix up as the shower was a little off and looked a little grubby. The bed was excellent as were the pillows. No robe supplied in this hotel. Dinner to my room was ok - french fries were spectacular. BIG problem - I was told the gym does not open until 7am...........too late for a workout and getting to all the other hotels I stay in the gym is 24/7

    • Never ceases to amaze me

      Reviewed 19 August 2019

I always find the friends I have made (staff) i.e,Mike and Zamni from Kites restaurant at the hotel go out of their way to make me feel like family, fixing me special dishes or waiting on me in the morning after a very warm friendly greeting. And the office staff Keshawn, Tam, and Liza who make it a point to visit me if I am in the restaurant or in the Glen Lounge or just sitting in the lobby playing with my iPhone. The warmth that I get from these people is exceptional, and sometimes like in July, I made 2 trips to the hotel from California just to spend time with my (friends/family)there, 2 -3 weeks apart. I have nothing but praise for this hotel and its staff. .......By the way Frieda, in the Glen Lounge, makes a great Long Island Ice Tea. I have to have a minimum of 2 drinks, so refreshing on a Warm Malaysian day, they are so good. Kites, caters to the vegetarian palate although a variety of food is prepared for the International fare. You have heard the song I left my heart in San Francisco well Mine, although born in San Francisco , was left in Glenmarie, Shah Allam, Holiday Inn Kuala Lumpur.

    • Exceptional customer service by Front Desk Manager!!

      Reviewed 02 August 2019

I would like to share my personal experience of exceptional customer service provided by the Front Office Manager - Mr. Thanaraj Lecthumanan at the Holiday Inn Kuala Lumpur Glenmarie. Firstly, allow me to explain my situation. I am a SPIRE ELITE member and for no reason, have been a victim of unfair treatment During the month of March, I made 4 hotel bookings through my IHG account which was confirmed and fully paid for in advance. I further wanted to book additional stays and to my surprise discovered that my account was blocked and under investigation. I made numerous phone calls to IHG reservations and they were unable to assist me or even disclose any information to that effect. I just cant imagine how one can even think of resolving an issue when there is no communication between the member and IHG rewards department. I decided to bring the matter up during my up coming stay at the Holiday Inn Kuala Lumpur Glenmarie on July 16, 2019 and seek the help of Mr. Thanaraj Lecthumanan. Mr. Thanaraj took it upon himself to go over and beyond the call of duty to send out numerous emails demanding immediate clarification on the status of my account. Mr. Thanaraj eventually was able to get an immediate response via email and to our surprise, managed to resolve the issue and my account was up and working again. I would like to take this opportunity to commend and sincerely thank Mr. Thanaraj for his diligence and outstanding customer service in doing an excellent job to help me resolve the issue painlessly in a very short period of time. I cant thank Mr. Thanaraj enough for his effort and dedication to his guest in undertaking such a difficult task when it seemed almost impossible to solve without some form of intervention from within the IHG management team. Last but not least, I would once again like to convey my true appreciation for the exceptional customer service rendered to me by Mr. Thanaraj Lecthumanan who resolved the issue and if not for him, this matter would still be pending and unresolved. Mr. Thanaraj is a true and valuable asset to the IHG brand and I sincerely hope that the Senior Management will give him the recognition he so rightly deserves. This eventually made my day and continued enjoying my stay at the Holiday Inn Kuala Lumpur Glenmarie.

    • Rip off

      Reviewed 21 June 2019

I had to mov to three rooms due to the damp smell. The reception was unhelpful. The third room had cockroaches. They rip you off for cabs. 80 for a ten minute journey. That is 20 dollars. The marketing department pestered me as i ate breakfast. Better hotels at lower price.
