    • Great as always

This is our go to brand of hotel for short stays. And again we was not disappointed. Spotlessly clean, very comfortable beds, welcoming staff and to top it off a free breakfast. My only gripe is the food options in the evening are really expensive, so we drove out to Dartford town centre.

    • One night stay

My mother and I stayed at the holiday inn express for one night as we was seeing a show at the theatre I had bought for my mums birthday. The location was great the rooms exceptionally clean and the receptionists were so helpful and friendly. Thanks for a great stay

    • Good stay, but eat elsewhere!

To be honest I would grade this hotel as good but there is only Average and Very good and I dont think its very good. Its a holiday inn express at the end of the day. So lets start on the positives. Rooms were clean and well presented and despite the fact that its virtually adjacent to the Dartford Crossing extremely quiet. Plenty of room in the car park and good location for the Lakeside Shopping Centres etc. There is some external work going on there at the moment and there is a letter in each room apologising for the inconvenience although I didnt experience any. The negatives come in the way of the food and some staff. I use Holiday Inn quite a lot as a IHG member. Some of the staff were not pleasant. But we all have off days I suppose. I ordered a chicken dish at the restaurant in the evening. Waited 20 minutes and nothing. Waitress came along to apologise that they had run out. So ordered the pie dish only to find they run out of that. Decided to go with Chilli and rice and you've guessed it, they had run out of rice. Finally had the Chilli which must have been put into the microwave for 30 minutes! The meal was barely edible. Breakfast was a little better. Although it was served up to 9.30 I got there at 8.20 even then the staff member was more interested in clearing the food on offering. But hey ho. So my advice.... great location, good nights sleep but eat elsewhere

    • Good value for money

A solid comfortable stay for a great price. Comfy beds & big enough rooms with good showers. Free parking still. Only negative is the food - many microwaved menu items which aren't that appealing & Hungarian Pinot Grigio as the main white wine. White Zin the only rose choice. Poor wine selection.

    • A fairly enjoyable stay, but more eventful than before, or as usual

We arrived at the hotel, on Monday 26th August 2019, and we checked out on Friday 30th August 2019. The check-in process was quick, easy and efficient. We were quickly in our rooms, after a short time checking in. Everything seemed to be going well, until around 11pm to 2am, where there was extremely loud banging and thudding sounds in the corridor outside our rooms. It was the type of sound, that would would expect, when someone slams a heavy wooden door shut quite heavily and quickly. Everything generally settled down at around/after 02:05am. We had no issues with breakfast after our first night in the hotel, although it was busier than usual. The second night was a lot better, we had gone into London during the day. We got the 'B' Bus, which is operated by a public bus company called 'FastTrack'. Which if you walk down the hotel entrance road, and turn up a road, that goes up a hill, and then when you get to a roundabout, you take the second exit, there is a bus stop there, that goes to the Bluewater Shopping Centre, and it can also drop you outside Dartford Railway Station, and Dartford Home Gardens. There is also a 'A' Bus, which is also operated by 'FastTrack', which can drop off people, on the opposite side of the dual carriageway, but you have to walk under the road, and go through a underpass/under-road walkway/tunnel. The hotel will probably have more information, if you enquire with them directly, or Google Maps might be of some help. A few of the nights, we ate at the hotel's restaurant, which can be quite expensive if you order from the normal/adult mains menu. Some examples of the food prices were around: 12.25 for a fish and chips, around 10-11 for a beef burger meal, around 9-10 for a margarita pizza, and 3.45 for a pint of lemonade. Me and my mother found, that if you have one light/small bites or starter, an option from the kids menu as a main, and a dessert, it will come to around 14.20 for a three course meal excluding drinks, per person. If you say have just a light bites/small plate/starter and a desert, without a main, your looking at around 9.45 for a two course meal excluding drinks, per person. Also bear in mind, that breakfast is included at the hotel, there is free parking (As far as I know), and free wi-fi available. Also, I believe that there is an ice-machine, and a microwave, that I believe that guests are entitled to use, to the left of the hotel entrance doors, in an enclosed alcove area. The rest of our stay was fairly quiet, and we had no major problems, with trying to get to sleep, for the rest of our stay. We left the hotel on the Friday morning, after having breakfast and packing our bags again, we also booked a taxi with Greenlight Taxis Dartford, who have really reasonable and competitive prices, and I would certainly recommend them. On our last night at around, or just after mid-night, there was this massive explosion, which for a moment felt and sounded like thunder for a second, but it only happened once. Apparently on checking with the local news on Friday morning, a local company, is demolishing all of, or parts of Little Brook Power Station in Dartford. Apparently this was the fourth demolition this year. So until the end of 2019, I would also recommend checking the local news, for any further future demolitions or night time work going on, even though it is around 1-2 miles away from the hotel. our taxi driver, on Friday said he lives a few miles away from the Holiday Inn Express Dartford, in either Ebbsfleet, Greenhitle or Thurrock and there heard it from there! Though this was no fault of the hotel though! Overall a good stay and we would definitely stay at this hotel again, as we have done so for at least 4-5 times now. Thank you for a very good stay, from Edward and Cheryl Powell.
