    • Outstanding Hotel

This hotel was outstanding. I wish I could give it six circles/stars. The hotel decor was great; I especially liked the black galaxy marble counters and tabletops. The staff cheerfully went out of its way to be helpful. And the good breakfast had a wide selection of foods. All this we were most grateful for after a day on the winding roads of Mt Ranier National Park. Lakewood is located on I-5 just east of olympia and south of Tacoma.

I forgot I was at a holiday inn. I checked in with my brother late Friday night. We were greeted by a brand new employee ( Brianna or Britney I believe) who was doing great. She was super friendly and made us feel welcomed. She was working with another guy( Corey or Gary) he offered us extra blankets. I am still in awe at the level of service she provided to us. The rooms were so nice and comfortable. Free breakfast was delicious. Youll forget your not at a 5 star hotel. Highly recommend!

    • Housekeeping makes or breaks a hotel

I recently stayed at this establishment for a wedding in the area. The check-in staff was very welcoming and helpful. The rooms are well appointed, more especially the suite with Jacuzzi. My biggest problem is that house keeping is lacking in cleaning this particular room. After returning from the function, I was appalled to see a poorly made bed and crumbs from previous occupants still under the desk from when I checked in on Thursday. After contacting the front desk, I was informed housekeeping was gone, so I had to remake my own bed (surprise they didn't give me a vacuum cleaner). After check out the front desk took my concerns down and said someone would contact me about the incident. Another downside was the breakfast, bland is a word that comes to mind. Lastly, use the pool at your own risk, it needs cleaning and a fresh coat of paint. The upside is the location which is right next door to Denny's. It took a couple of days of calling to have someone address my issues because it became apparent that no-one forwarded my concerns. Eventually, I was contacted by a manager, and she was appalled that this went unanswered. She assured me that all would be addressed.

    • The stay was ok, but they double-charged me and refused to pay me back!

The hotel is fine, nice room, comfortable bed, nice little pool. But the staff is dangerously incompetent when it comes to charging the customers. I was charged 2.5 times the amount of my stay, then recouped some of the money, then recouped a little bit more, but I'm still out more than half of the money and they refuse to help me. I guess that's how it is in America these days, a big corporation just takes your money, and you sit on the phone trying to straighten it out, but basically they get to do whatever they want. Not a great way to treat soldiers travelling for military purposes. Obviously, I will never stay at another Holiday Inn location again, and I advise all travelers to do likewise if they want to avoid having this somewhat corrupt chain steal your money with impunity.

    • Great staff, facility and location

The experience starts at the front desk with a very helpful and pleasant staff member named Julie. She is great and handled some tired, grumpy travelers at check in in a way that changed their mood. The facilities seem new. The lobby and breakfast are spacious and pleasant. When you check in, you pull under cover and then straight into the parking deck. It is very convenient. Its next to UW Tacoma. So, there are a lot of food opens and areas to walk and jog to get outside. Its convenient to hop on the highway and to walk down to the waterfront. Great experience.
