Staff very friendly & made us feel welcome. We had the burger special 2 for 11.90 Not usually a burger person but they were very tasty. The chips were very crispy & tasted good. Lots of extra's on the menu you could order if wanted. We will be going back !!

Went for Sunday lunch. We were warned on arrival that there would be a bit of a wait. But it wasn't too long at all. The staff was very attentive. The food hot and plenty of it. I had roast loin of pork and my husband had the topside of beef. The meat was tender and came with plenty of vegetables. I didn't think I would be able to eat it all but managed to clean my plate.

    • Amazing anniversary dinner

      Reviewed 24 February 2019

Myself & my partner had dinner there last night and were amazed at the selection of food on offer for what we thought was a small village pub. All of the staff were amazing, super friendly and nothing was too much of an ask. I picked the pan fried salmon & prawn risotto from the specials board.......I should not have had a starter! The portion was huge and double what I expected to be served up. It was delicious and cooked to perfection. When we arrived we were told there would be a 10-15 minute wait for food and apologized to twice for the delay. If Id known how good the food was Id of happily waited longer - not that 10-15 minutes was in issue in the first place! I finished my meal with the dark chocolate & hazelnut tart, it was so delicious. Thank you to all of the staff there last night. You happily dealt with multiple large tables but the pair of us never once felt like we were ignored. We will be back! This may be my favorite place to eat around Haverhill!

    • Great stay

      Reviewed 20 February 2019

This was a single night stay with dinner. The room was fine, and the bathroom had toiletries. The bathroom radiator wasnt working, but was immediately attended to when it was mentioned. Dinner was very enjoyable. They had our two favourites on the menu (whitebait and rib eye), and some lovely puddings. Serving a miniature vegetable stir-fry with the steak, as well as a small salad, mushroom and tomato was a nice touch, and a change from the usual broccoli. And great chips! The service was attentive despite the restaurant being fairly full, and we had a great Italian red wine. Unusual to find two Yorkshire bitters on tap in Suffolk, and pleasing to see a spread of strengths ( 4%, 4.3% and 4.5% on the three pumps). Breakfast is flexible if you just want a continental. We opted for a full English. This is available from 9.30 if pre-booked, as a chef has to be brought in. It is quite understandable to charge extra for breakfast in a small pub, but perhaps 9.95 is a tad steep. All in all a most enjoyable stay. We hope to return.
