    • Nice Hotel

      Reviewed 06 September 2019

The Helios is a really nice hotel, the food is excellent and the prices are reasonable, however I was surprised to find that the check in is from 4.00pm and not 2.00pm which is usual. Also it took us over 45 minutes to check in and there was only one person waiting before us. The charge for the digital safe was a surprise and the entertainment is all in Spanish. If you are going to this hotel and do not speak Spanish you will struggle.

    • second time around let down

This was our seconds stay at the helios, we re booked as we loved it so much 1st time around. The Second visit we noticed a complete difference. we had a couple of requests, to have 2 rooms next to each-other(as my daughter and her friend were holidaying with us)and also asked for a low floor as my daughter has her terrible fear of heights.... and we got none of these requests. As a result of being on the eighth floor she couldn't step foot on the balcony which put a damper on things.... this time around we noticed there were groups of males and females staying at the hotel, they say they dont take single sex groups, but let me assure you, they do. We had groups either side of us,music blasting and shouting off the balcony at gone 1am...reported it,yet it took reception nearly an hour to come and get it stopped. There were even males with the males next door that weren't even staying at our hotel in the room with them, they were telling one of the females that was partying on the balcony with said males that he would "show her where his hotel was later" we told reception but they just shrugged it off.Unfortunatley this has put myself and my family off,we won't be returning this time, maybe try the presidente down the road, such a shame as the hotel itself is lovley

    • If Hotel Helios was a person, it would be Katie Price....

      Reviewed 04 September 2019

No doubting this would have been a beautiful hotel once, but beneath the various face-lifts is a budget hotel with paper thin walls and a particularly questionable customer demographic. We had no issues with any of the staff, in fact if the place would score really highly on staff friendliness and helpfulness. Check in was quick and straight forward. The room was a nice size but the furniture tired. Drawers and wardrobe doors that required lots of force to open and close. Worn runners and lots of squeaking. This wouldn't be such a factor, but when you can hear your neighbours to the left, right, up and down, noise of any description carries. Chairs and beds being moved across the floor(s), plugs going into walls, showers, toilets, TVs and radios - you can hear it all, 24/7. Then there are the other 'customers'. Whether it's gangs of lads returning from town and trying to throw each other into the pool, rounds of 15 pints being delivered to tables of 5, those who were running and screaming through the corridors on each and every night - take your pick, they were all there. Think Benidorm the TV programme, but on less of a budget. The pool area was good, bar the usual sunbed wars. Day time entertainment was just that - though it was usually only the Spanish who partook. The evening entertainment was limited, but at the same time enjoyable. The pool bar was well run and the staff efficient. The clear highlight for the Hotel Helios came at breakfast time. A substantial and varied offering, which was served in a room fairly vacant upon opening time at 8.00am. In summary you should not expect to sleep well here - because you won't, but you can have a good breakfast, snooze by the pool and take in the odd bit of entertainment for under 100/night. If they could manage their customers better and make the necessary investment to sort out the obvious noise issues, it would be a brilliant place to stay. We will look elsewhere for our next stay in Benidorm - and we're not alone. I spoke with various other Brits who had used the hotel only to encounter the same issues as us.
