    • Horrible experience.

Reserved a room online with a balcony - reservation was confirmed. Upon arrival learned that the room had water damage and that they had tried to contact me, which they did not. They made no attempt to get me another lake front room. Instead they upgraded me to a bigger room, street side, on the fourth floor. Well, the elevators only go to the third floor so we had to carry all of our stuff up two flights of stairs to the fourth floor. There was never any consideration as to whether or not anyone in my party was able to climb the stairs to the fourth floor. The hotel was old, unkept and messy. Three rollaway beds remained in our hallway the entire time we were there. All of the fire doors at the stairs were propped open with either a trash can or a towel - which Im sure is against fire code. The bathroom had only one switch which worked all lights and the exhaust fan which was very loud and annoying and ran the entire time the bathroom lights were on. This entire experience was annoying and I would never recommend this place to anyone.

    • No Dogs Allowed

      Reviewed 07 September 2019

There is a man who owns many of the bigger name hotel chains in Mackinac City. We made a reservation at one of these hotels owned by him and this particular hotel allowed dogs. This was a fall color tour trip and as the lodging season started winding down and several motels/hotels start closing up for the winter, this mans idea of business is to take your reservation but then move travelers around to one of his different hotels without any notice or communication with you, the unsuspecting traveler. So we drive up to the hotel we were booked at, and with much professionalism, there is a handwritten note taped to the lobby door saying our reservation was moved to the Hamilton Inn. Wow. Okay then, back in the car we go and start looking for the Hamilton Inn. We find it and go to the front desk. Yes, they have our reservation. We asked if it was on the first floor because it just makes taking the dog out for potty breaks easier. Thats where things went bad. We do not allow dogs. Rude staff, totally unforgiving about the circumstances we are now in. The end result was we did stay there, the dog was very comfortable sleeping on the bed, and it wasnt until later that we found out about this owner and his hotels and his unappreciative way of handling his guests. DO NOT STAY IN ANY OF THE BIG CHAINS WHEN IN MACKINAC CITY. Stay at the mom/pop motels where they may not be as fancy but they are always clean with wonderful people who truly appreciate their guests.

Security issue..We were assigned a room upon arrival...around midnight..another customer entered our room by way of a key card that was given to him by the front desk..needless to say...we did not sleep after this incident..the front desk could only tell us there was a glitch in the system...I was with my sister...we were more concerned when I tried to latch the sliding door to the deck...only to find it was broken...I went to the desk in the morning.. asking for refund for our room...girl was not helpful...gave me a phone number to call.. Mackinaw City Tourism... I have called them three times...I have yet to here from them...all these hotels are in monopoly...don't waste your time with any of them... over priced..and not well kept...and very obvious they are not concerned about the well being of their customers

    • showing wear

      Reviewed 25 August 2019

Paid a premium for this place. The whole hotel felt damp and worn. Carpets needed swept and cleaned. Did not live up to it's billing at all. People at the front desk were very nice. Room was okay. Best part about it was being able to watch fireworks from the little deck. We paid just under $300 for the night- it was not worth it imo.
