came here as it was a lovely hot evening and this place holds the best kept secret ever, there is a little gem of a garden hidden away from sight that is reached by walking out the back of the restaurant, past some out houses, down a little path and into eutopia. What a cute little place to sit and relax with a glass of wine and just listen to the quietness. there is a tiny little river that runs along the back of the garden too and in the summer the hosts will provide you with a bar-b-que pack and you can cook it on the huge barbie in the corner of the garden. How ingenius is this idea !! We were shown to our table by a most pleasant member of staff but to be honest, everybody who workd in this place were fantastic and given a menu. I chose the ham hock terrine to start with which was so so tasty then had the avocado and chicken salad but was unable to finish it as there was so much. It was mouth watering and so tasty. My partner had the soup followed by the Hampshire fillet steak and he cleared the plate. Everything coming out from the kitchen looked and smelt so gorgeous. The meals were very filling and we both felt so full but how fortunate to have stumbled across this magnificent place. I would highly recommend eating here even just to sit out in the hidden garden as it truly is a little gem. Thankyou to all of the staff for a lovely experience and cannot wait to visit here again. Booking is recommended as it is a popular place to eat but you can also just walk in earlier in the evening. well done guys.

We had a family meal for 13 and had an excellent experience. The table layout meant we could talk to everyone rather than the usual long table and was way from everyone else so we didnt disturb other diners. The waiters and bar people went out of their way to be helpful were friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious with a gluten free and vegan meal no problem. Would recommend without reservations.

    • Relaxing lunch in the secret garden

Our first visit but certainly not our last. We were shown to the secret garden and chose a bottle of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc to have with our lunch. A good choice of entrees that included goats cheese and smoked salmon with crayfish. We chose chicken avocado salad with pine nuts for main course. The menu is a perfect mix to suit all palates. As we were the only guests in the garden it was our private sanctuary but interested to see that a bbq is in place for self cooking enthusiasts. Our server was very attentive and could not have been note helpful. A perfect lunch in this small market town.
