    • Great for the night

Amazing location and room was perfect for our one night stay. Bathroom was a little wander from the room but the shower was excellent. Clean and tidy too. Room was warm and just about big enough for the two of us and small luggage.

Rather strange design of building, which means that there is no communical space after 2200, which seems to mean that people sit of stairs etc and still make noise! Also means that you can't have dinner after 2200 and more of an issue, if you are doing an early tour with an early pick up, you can't get breakfast. Apart from that it was a comfortable stay, but they really do need to look at the design of the building to reduce noise and allow you to get an early breakfast!

Probably the best backpacker I stayed in in NZ. The room and beds are really nice, thanks to the bed curtains and space under bed to put your stuffs safe. And the lodge is well made so you are encourage to talk and meet people easily ! And super nice staff !!

    • Good Experience for the Budget Traveller

      Reviewed 09 September 2019

It's a strategic location, which is extremely close to the City Centre. Also, the good thing was as I like keeping my privacy and this is my first time experiencing staying in a backpacker lodge because of my budget limitation, I and my friend were assigned into the 4-person mix bedroom with curtains in every bed, which was more than enough. Otherwise, if it's more than 4 people in a room, then this will affect my comfortability experience here in the lodge. The room was quite smelly, especially the humid smell. And also, as I prefer keeping myself private and "avoiding" the strangers in the same room, this lodge is not suitable for people who seek for spending most of their quality time alone or with their close friends. So, no wonder the price is unsurprisingly less than the ones with a private room. This lodge is also not really suitable for my personality as I had to share the bathroom with strangers. Once again, for those who seek personal space and avoid socialising, the 4-person bedroom is really fit at all, if you really want to experience staying in the budget lodge. Otherwise, this is not a good place to stay for those seeking for more personal space with budget expense

    • THE hostel for the discerning traveller!

      Reviewed 31 August 2019

I've stayed in a number of hostels in Queenstown for my weekly snowboarding trips, and none impressed me as much as Haka Lodge did! I value a quaint and quiet place to rest after a day on the slopes and Haka Lodge provides just that! It is located a stone throw away from where the hustle and bustle of Queenstown comes alive, yet tucked away nicely in a quiet corner. I can go on and on about the cleanliness of the place, or rave about how comfortable it was during my week long stay but what stood out to me most, was the staff. Especially the assistant manager, Anne. Anne was warm, welcoming and basically everything you'd want in someone to greet you when you check in and take care of you for the duration of your stay. The amenities and facilities of the property was great, but the people were beyond amazing! Thank you Anne and team at Haka Lodge! I'll definitely be seeing y'all soon! :D
