    • Great find - recommend it!

On an overcast Sunday we decided to explore Kiama - and found the Grand. While a block back from the beach, this grand old pub has the atmosphere and authenticity that a great number of travellers are after. The pub has just been renovated and that includes revamping the bar area by artfully highlighting the very original features of brickwork, floorboards and ceiling sarking. Staff were young and really lovely to deal with. Had the Sunday roast (it was cold outside!) and it was tasty with tender and juicy lamb. Really pleasant place and true to itself versus the chrome and grey toned revamped pubs where everything is deep fried and comes with chips. Recommend as a place to chill, talk, and take a breather from tourist type activity.

We stayed at this old hotel. On the website it says $55.00 per night. We were charged $70. The room has comfortable beds with one table. No powerpoints and shared bathroom and toilets. We slept well. Lots of stairs to walk up.

    • Old but beautiful

A girlfriend and I travelled to Kiama for the day and stopped at the grand for a quick couple of drinks before the next train. Very old pub but great staff. Young girl with glasses had wonderful customer service and knew what everyone at the bar was having to drink which I find very sufficient. Great staff great location. Abit run down but looks like work is getting done.

I come to this place for a quiet drink with a couple friends, at this time there seemed to be only 1 bar staff on, and a cook in the kitchen. I come towards the bar and was greeted by an unfriendly face, I could see the horrible look through her glasses. She greeted me with 'What do you want?' , instead of making a scene I proceeded to tell her. I got the drinks and asked for the price which she then sighed and turned around to the till to check. $15.10, I handed her the money and she took it. I walked away in hope that maybe she had been having a bad day. My friend went up to get the next round and was greeted with another poor customer service act. My wife ended up getting her name and after the lack of customer service RENEE offered us, and many more that day as we analyzed. And we are definitely appalled that nobody has done something about this yet as we have ended up coming for a second time, Renee was working again and we received nothing but less than we got in the experience I have just told you. POOR MANAGEMENT IF THEY HAVE CHOSEN TO KEEP SOMEONE SO TOXIC ON.

This has to be one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. I know its a budget price but the room was empty, apart from the beds. No draws, TV, wardrobe, chairs, nothing. It was dirty and noisy. There was constant noise throughout the night with people walking up stairs. I am always reluctant to give poor reviews, but this deserves it. Avoid at all costs.
