    • Brilliant 3* its definately not a 5*

Its definately not a 5* hotel. Its a nice 3 star though. Things that you would expect from a five star hotel, they don't have. Pillows are awful for starters and the staff are pretty grumpy. We arrived in the evening and were surprised to see that there was a 14 charge for the safe. Not one other 5 star hotel we've stayed in has asked for money. This was mentioned on the website I just missed it and didn't know the price until arrival. I feel its just unecessary moneymaking. We were given a scrappy bit of paper about mealtimes and shown the lift. One pillow each on the beds so we asked reception for more. over an hour later there is a knock at the door and the porter hands over 1 silky decorative sofa cushion - whats that about? The shower - it needed a good limescale remover - only the middle part of the shower worked which means we were jet washed each night soaking the bathroom floor. Beach towels were large hand towels, wished we'd taken our own now. Don't try to be 5 star without the quality of one. Hanging space for a family clothes is poor, about 12 inch hanging space and the rest were shelves. We had 2 singles beds in our room for our son which were different heights so pretty silly leaving another bed in the room, they didn't remove the coffee table so space was very limited. The beach was lovely, shallow clear water with the odd rock of two but soft sand underfoot. Really enjoyed our beach days, the pool was too full on with loud music, not our type of relaxing holiday im afraid. Drinks are poor. Choice of beer wine, rum whisky, gin vodka but all locally sourced. everything else had a charge! Cocktails: they do 6 I think which were a mixture of above just with an added grenadine colour. hence they all tasted the same, just depends what colour you fancied. There are serious knife and fork rations going on in this hotel. IF you manage to find a table with no cutlery laid out on it you are not allowed to use it basically. why make holiday makers sit inside for their dinner because the waiters can't be bothered to wait on more tables? It was definately hard work at mealtimes, not a relaxing time. This again is not a 5 star service. The pool bar snack bar which serves lovely pizzas needs renovating, its pretty grotty to be fair. The bar looks more like a derelict shed than a bar, again serving beer wine or fake soft drinks by miserable staff. Dont expect to get an icecream before 2.30, even at 2.20... there are 6 to chose from but normally only 3 in stock. Food was nicely laid out, good selection if you are not a fussy eater. lovely salads and casserole meats. they had a hot plate chef carving different meats of kebabs most nights, I enjoyed the selection for breakfast. lots of choice and lovely fruits. All of this said, its a cheap holiday, if you want to pay for 5 star then its definately double the price. Just don't be fooled into thinking its 5 star as its most certainly not. Lighten up staff - people are here to enjoy ourselves, would we be back? No.

    • Great facility only to be let down by the service

Hotel is ideally located from the town centre (about 10-15mins away). public transport readily available at the main gate. the facilites are fantastic - 3 pools, huge dining area (not only one but several) and special shout out to the SPA (the only place we got super service in the entire hotel) such a great set-up only to be let down by the level of service. we arrived at midnight after a long flight but the reception staff looked more tired than us. we were served as if it was a bother. the rooms were clean but one of the rooms had a terrible smell that was never sorted. the restaurant waiters were even worse. they start removing the food well before the closing time and dont even inform us or give time to have a final round. to make matters worse they even start cleaing your table while you are still on the table having your meal and actually force you to finish your food quickly so they can close the place. pathetic behaviour. we even went and complained about this at the guest relations office but didnt get a convincing response. we were celebrating a friends birthday during our stay there so we went to request for a complimentary cake (i mean thats the least they can do) only to be told that they do not do anything as such and if we still want to do it then there would be a charge of 10 Liras. after a lot of tussle with the reception they finally agreed to do it at no cost but why do we need to argue over such a thing as well. the staff need huge amounts of training to be up to par and even need to be more fluent in english to be able to communicate with all the international tourists they receive (maybe they should learn from the in house staff at the spa on how to communicate and treat guests) the hotel does also offer water sports which was the only other positive to come out of there. on the whole an average experience.

Just returned home after 2 weeks at the Tousan. Ive stayed at many hotels in Turkey on an all inclusive and have to say this is the worst one Ive stayed at. Never had to pay for a safe before and fridge always filled up....even water wasnt replaced and was only available in small cartons. No fruit available at breakfast and so much oil used on the omelette and egg stations. Lunch was the best meal with more choice than at the evening meal. But if youre not a fish lover I hope you like chicken /turkey in various stews. The bed was rock hard but asked for a mattress topper and it arrived after a few days and made it slightly better. The bathroom could do with a good makeover as the taps and shower were old and rusted. The beach was small and very crowded but easy to get into the sea and was lovely . Spent most of the time round one of the smaller pools and a lot of the sun beds were broken and the umbrellas badly stained. The best thing about the hotel was the staff....they were all so helpful and never had a problem getting a drink on the terrace as once your glass was empty the waitresses were quick to refill it. The entertainment was ok the first week with live music twice,Grease, dancers and acrobats etc but the second week no music or Grease and just a repeat of most of the 1st week. Needless to say I wouldnt return to the Tousan.

On arriving in our room we noticed a damp smell, the shower had mould up the walls and all over the shower tray. The bedroom walls had dents and black marks all over them. We complained to the management and after our Jet 2 rep stepped in stating that the room was a health hazard, we were offered the choice of 2 others rooms. The first room was not much better than our original room, so we chose the 2nd and were then charged 60 as it had a sea view. A majority of the staff were unhelpful and miserable. You could not get a sunbed on the beach as they had all been reserved by 8 am. The food was nice with plenty of choice. The animation team worked hard and were very entertaining. I have stayed at better 3* hotels.
