location is great ! room was big a lot plenty of sitting area and has a refrigerator and has a small dining table bonus! I would recommend this hotel for your visit to Veracruz only downside was bed very hard always woke up with back ache and tub glass door was oversized for the tub always hurt my toes getting out of shower and I would put the do not disturb & no cleaning sign still got a knock on the door and my bed was made when I came back from sightseeing

For being the oldest hotel in Veracruz it still maintains its charm and quality. Located across the Zocalo and Cathedral its location could not be better. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. Their bathrooms have huge Jacuzzis. Their restaurant is simply delicious, especially their breakfast buffet. Staff is extremely helpful and friendly. Service is exceptional (which is true for most of Veracruz). The only recommendation I would have for the hotel is to open their pool earlier. It opens at 9:00am which is too late!

The oldest hotel in Veracruz, 'dlligencias' referring to the stagecoaches that stopped here between Mexico City and the port -- with such historic figures as Benito Jurez, Maximilian and Carlota needing lodging here. Prolific songwriter Agustn Lara wrote at least one of his greatest hits in a GHD room, and the hotel reflects all the wonder of Mexican history as well as all the sometimes rakish style of its music. Wonderful restaurant, fabulous decor and amenities. Even when dancers and musicians fill the lively plaza below, you could shut the incredibly well-glazed windows and not hear a sound.

This is the best place to stay in downtown/historic Veracruz. Come here if you want to enjoy the sights and (esp.) sounds of this magical/musical city. Rooms facing the Zocalo (plaza) provide entertainment day and night. The rooms are pretty and well kept. The staff is very friendly but service in the restaurant and pub can be uneven. This is not a perfect hotel (while the shower was great the bath did not work and the salon was missing light bulbs). But even its challenges seem emblematic of the city. Past glories that have not fully been brought into the present day. Some but not all of the staff speak English (having some Spanish is a must in Veracruz).
