My mom and I stayed in one of the family rooms. It had a separate room where I stayed with bunk beds and a dining room table/desk. The main room was vast with tall ceilings, crown moldings, a huge bed, sofa and kitchenette. Also an A/C and lots of natural light from the windows. There is a vanity on the other side, separate from the shower and WC, so two adults can get ready at the same time. I recommended it to my foreign boss who has two small kids. Perfect for his family too. We loved the quick walk to the aquarium and discovery center, and shuttles and trolleys everywhere. If you love 50/60's Americana (and earlier), this is for you. Great museums and parkland. The host and owner Jeff is great. He's a worldly guy and retired US military veteran, but still young and fun. He's a native to the area and enjoys giving inside tips. The hostel tenants are mostly seasonal J-1 workers, super sweet - young, but not party animals. It's a very international crowd. You can practive your Czech or Spanish with Jeff or any other languages with his guests. There is a nice, HUGE common area for eating and socializing. **1-4 story walk up, depending on your room, so pack light, or be strong** Jeff is a nice owner, but not a porter. Can't wait to stay again and will happily endorse him to my friends and colleagues, especially those with more worldly expectations. If elevators, catering and gambling are your thing, I definitely recommend the casinos in Canada. The US side is mostly State Park land - thank you Teddy Roosevelt - and plenty of other wonderful local attractions, They are all easy and relatively inexpensive to access. Thanks for having us Jeff. I hope we're welcome back!! Kat & Ellen

I went with my family to celebrate the long vacation on Independence Day. First and foremost the front office person (Jeff - lanky white one) is a psychologically unstable person, unfit for the front office in a hospitality industry. He don't like to talk much and expect everyone to understand and follow his order. You ask two times or do little bargain sort of - BANG! the fellow starts firing salvo. We went there a little early (4 hrs) and thought to keep the luggage in common area and come back after little walk. We needed to use the toilet which the readily rejected and clearly said he dont like people coming early. Some other words/question and bang! he started spewing. He went ahead and cancelled our whole booking! Hey What? Yes you heard it correctly - the booking I did 3 months back - he cancelled readily because he do not like bargain and I was asking too many questions. Note for Indian Families - Jeff hates Indians and he is just short of putting it in the hostel website. This is because Indians try to bargain and ask questions. We literally got kicked out before we have settled in. Can you imagine how much hassle was it to get the next accommodation during the pick of season? Let me make myself clear - The front office person Jeff is a blot to hospitality industry. Also the front road is in complete repair and which makes the hostel almost inaccessible.

Stayed here in the winter of 2018, when there aren't many tourists around. It is a nice, cozy, well kept place. A dorm with a locker and a common sitting area and a kitchen with enough utilities to enable me to cook a meal if needed. The owner, Jeff was helpful in letting me get the best out of Niagara Falls. He recommended an awesome lesser-known museum that I wouldn't have found otherwise. Its a small power plant a few kilometres from the falls. If you're looking for a hostel experience, meeting new people, give this place a try!

I recently stayed here with my family (two adults and one child) when we spent a week in Niagara Falls. We were traveling with another family (two adults and three children), and Gorge View turned out to be the perfect "home base" for us. Each family had a private room, which included its own bathroom and kitchen area. Our rooms were comfortable--our room even had a separate bedroom for the kids, a really nice surprise which meant my boyfriend and I got much more sleep than we were expecting to! The other family's room had a separate full kitchen instead of a kids' room, which was also convenient for them. The beds were very comfortable, and our room was large and convenient with a good-sized kitchenette. The common area of the hostel was a wonderful bonus, since both of our families could hang out there together, and we could make most of our meals there without having to spend a lot of money going out to eat (not to mention none of the kids enjoy sitting in restaurants). The hostel is located very conveniently within easy walking distance of the Aquarium and the Discovery Center, as well as the Falls themselves and the Rainbow Bridge to walk to Canada. We were so pleasantly surprised that we could walk almost everywhere we wanted to go, and took the trolley to the further falls viewing areas. The hostel is also an easy drive to a grocery store and two convenience stores. The owner, Jeff, was helpful and accommodating to our large and boisterous group. Our drive to Niagara ran long, so around 6pm we left a voicemail and email for Jeff letting him know we would be arriving about an hour after his latest standard check-in time, and he responded quickly via text letting us know that would be no problem. Once we arrived, Jeff showed us where many attractions were on maps and described how to get the most experience for our money and time, and even took us to a lovely "secret" viewing location for the fireworks that happen every night. I would highly recommend Gorge View as a nice place for families to stay while visiting Niagara Falls!
