Went there today and was pleasantly surprised. Breast bar area and the whole place oozes style. I've bee to many London theatres and this by far the best.

Big congratulations to the Royal court theatre not just for the lovely Jerwood theatre downstairs but for the spacious bar downstairs which is excellent value, not just got a theatre bar but for the very expensive area its in. The theatre is a pleasure to visit and the seats a pleasure to sit in.

    • Great venue, including for pre and post drinks

The theatre is right next to Sloane Square tube, which makes options for eating outside both expensive in terms of value for money, and means you need to book. But no fear, the theatre has a very well designed bar/restaurant in the basement with an excellent selection of drinks (try their speciality gins), and high quality reasonably priced/portioned bar snacks. We didnt have any of the mains, but they looked good. Friendly staff. Trendy atmosphere without being too Sloaney. We had the on stage seats for the play itself - dont be put off by these, Id argue they actually add to the experience.

    • Excellent performance by Stephen Rea

Small cosy theatre. Cyprus Avenue is hysterically funny and shocking so be prepared. The acting is wonderful and the story line is engaging and challenging. Stephen Rea as Eric is wonderful - he is on stage for almost all of the play. Chris Corrigan as Slim is also excellent - both have powerful roles and they play them really well. Be prepared for lots of bad language and tough scenes near the end.

    • Cosy theatre, anything but cosy play + performance (but brilliant nonetheless).

Went to see Cypress Avenue which, as your TA reports correctly indicate, combines dark humour, some (deliberately) nasty scenes, and fine performances, especially by a brilliant Stephen Rea. The theatre itself is cosy and comfortable; it also has a large bar, with a good range of drinks and some snacks, not unreasonably priced by London theatre standards.
