    • Perfect family villa - paradise!

      Reviewed 07 August 2019

We spent the most wonderful week staying at the villa recently. It really is a complete home from home - extremely spacious, comfortable - luxurious even! The Kitchen is very well supplied with crockery, utensils and appliances, and some basics like tea, coffee, milk and juice were provided for our arrival; the living areas are spacious, airy and very comfortable, with aircon and ceiling fans which were vital in the July heat! There are so many places to sit and relax, read, listen to music and generally chill out that our family of four never got in eachothers way! The good library of English books and DVDs is a nice addition. The pool is fantastic all day long, and provided lots of fun, tho we avoided it in the evenings because of mosquitos! The three bedrooms are all large and very comfortable, again with aircon and fans; plenty of towels provided. The position of the villa is great, tho its probably best to hire a car if you want to explore further afield, as the local bus service apprently isnt very reliable. The Epicurean supermarket is a 10 minute walk away in Jolly Harbour and we found it very well stocked. Our favourite local beach - Valley Church beach - was a 15 min walk down the road, but amazing beach which we had virtually to ourselves - and a great beach bar and food there too. Even spotted two starfish in the sea there! Hazel the property manager met us when we arrived and was very friendly and efficient, able to answer any questions and give us lots of local advice - she was a god-send! Finally, the provision of a mobile phone in the villa for local phone calls was really useful to us - excellent idea. Thank you SO much for the use of a truly wonderful, luxurious villa!

    • First Class Experience

      Reviewed 25 April 2019

Having visited Antigua 7 times before, this was our first experience at self catering and we could not have wished for a better location than Ffryes Villa. We visited with two other couples and drew straws for who should get which bedroom, but this was not really necessary as they were all very pleasant and more than adequate. As was the rest of the villa. It is situated in a very friendly and safe location. Any problems were quickly dealt with by the lovely Hazel and it was a real pleasure to meet her, also Lava send Big Lava were really helpful. We also took advantage of renting the car with the villa, which enabled us to go just that bit further and experience different beaches. It us a good idea to go online to Antiguanice to see how many cruise ships are in St Johns on the day as it makes a real difference to how crowded the beaches are. We spent quite a few days on St Marys Church beach where the Nest bar is and on one day there were probably about 10 of us and the next day you could not get a matchstick between the beds! The Rum-bus Beach is a nice experience, but you are not directly on the beach. Shirley heights a Sunday party is a must experience as is going over to Boom restaurant and pool from The Admirals Inn in Nelsons Dockyard. You are taken over in a boat and are free to use their pool while eating and drinking at their lovely poolside restaurant. If you like snorkelling the Creole Lobster trip with Captain Glen is very special, his barbecued lobsters on the beach are to die for. We quite enjoyed the self catering element of our holiday, but when you are used to all inclusive it does appear to be very expensive, especially in the Epicurian supermarket, but you were able to buy anything you wanted. However, we did get to eat at some lovely restaurants, which were mainly in Jolly Harbour, the Greek, with Mama Greek and the Italian Basilica were especially nice.

After renting many vacation homes to escape the cold North East winters, Ffryes Villa is at the top of our list. Not only is it really well maintained, but it is in the perfect location. Just minutes away from many of the best beaches, beach Bars and restaurants on Antigua, and If you enjoy cooking, the best supermarket on the island is just down the road. The property is managed by Hazel, who is the nicest and most efficient person you would ever want to meet. We will definitely be back to this perfect vacation rental.

We had the most wonderful return stay at Ffryes. We never want to leave and it truely is a home from home. Antigua itself is a vibrant and enchanting Island with a warm and friendly culture, having a place like Ffryes to enjoy it from is the ultimate icing on the cake. Immaculately clean, tastefully appointed, every detail thought of, 10 out of 10 on every measure. We leave a little of our hearts behind every time we go... simply cannot recommend Ffryes highly enough. Top tips; * Grab a sundowner at Dennis beach bar - absolutely magic watching the sun set on the ocean. * Visit Miracles restaurant for some yummy local food right on your doorstep. * Hire a boat to visit some deserted beaches and spy some marine life like turtles and dolphins :) * Happy hour at The Crows Nest is a winner!!

    • Beautiful Villa in a lovely location.

      Reviewed 18 December 2018

Ffryes Villa is a luxury villa located above a Jolly Harbour in Antigua. My wife and I had a two week holiday here in late November early December. We were both so impressed with the quality of this accommodation throughput our stay. It has three bedrooms which are all en suite. They are all have a very modern look and all are very spacious. The kitchen area is very large and has every utensil you could imagine. The kitchen is all part of a lovely open plan dining/sitting area which again is of a very high standard. There is a TV/DVD and vast collection of DVDs but we never once had the time to use. The outside sitting area is again very extensive with a dining area and very comfortable sitting area, which features a charcoal bbq facility. The pool is quite big and very private. It has a number of lounge chairs and again is a very impressive area. There is a utility room which has a washing machine and tumble drier; we found this facility extremely useful. All in all you could not be disappointed with Ffyres Villa it is an excellent standard of accommodation. Further to the accommodation you are also supported by the local villa management in the form of a lady called Hazel. Hazel is at the guests disposal to sort out any issues you may have with the villa. To be honest we had none but it is reassuring that someone is on hand. Hazel is a lovely lady. You can also hire a vehicle through the villa booking. The vehicle is very useful because the standards of the roads are of poor quality and this four wheel drive vehicle was just the best for getting around. We thought the hire price of 550, for two weeks, was very good value for money. The price of petrol was extremely cheap. As mentioned previously the villa is very well located for the beach and local restaurants/bars. Miracles Restaurant is a must and is a simple five minute walk. The Jolly Harbour itself is only a 10 minute walk and has quite a few restaurants and bars. You will also find the local Supermarket in JH and it has an extensive choice of goods. People say the food is expensive but we thought it was reasonable considering it is mostly imported. We equally thought the restaurants were competitively priced. The nearest beach is a five minute drive or ten minute walk. We had a fantastic two weeks at Ffyres Villa. It is a great facility which is of a very high standard. We have no complaints whatsoever our every need was catered for in this villa. It simply made our holiday in Antigua staying is such wonderful accommodation.
