Booked the Glenrigh knowing it was on the front at Oban so looking forward to wonderful sea views and we werent disappointed. The room was simply delightful if up quite a number of stairs which could be troublesome for someone with mobility issues as there is no lift. There are ground floor and first floor rooms with the same facilities so if we come back will definitely be asking for one of the lower/ground floor rooms. Iona was lovely and helpful, friendly and the little touches around the guest house are very welcome, dram, sweets, sherry, access to fridges to name a few. I would say the only thing that prevented me from a 5* rating was the breakfast. Not to be negative just commenting as there was a great deal of choice for all tastes, however the cooked breakfast was lacking in some things. The menu online offered a choice however the reality was no fried eggs, no haggis or black pudding - we did ask but were told that they dont do fried eggs only coddled and scrambled and they used to do black pudding but not any more. The potato scones on our first breakfast were cooked lovely however on the second day they were really over cooked and you couldnt cut through them. The bacon and sausages were very good and the toast was super thick so in all the breakfast was enjoyable but would have been better with soft potato scone, a fried egg and black pudding as offered. I think one of the morning servers was in a grump as she stomped everywhere but the other lassie made up for it with her bubbly helpful and accommodating service. Would I stay again - probably it was a lovely quiet and well situated guest house.

    • Amazing

We loved Glenrigh BandB. Location is perfect-on the water and a very short walk to all the restaurants and bars. Our room was amazing-it had the best view. It was a very spacious En suite with a grande window with a water view. I was very happy with the big and soft towels. There were also some Scotish treats in our room left as a welcome gift -2 Scotish sodas, cookies, chocolate marshmallow candy and whiskey liquor. Breakfast was delish and served very quickly. We will definitely stay here again.

    • Very well run

Glenrigh is a lovely mansion like house in an excellent location with a good view across the water, good parking space and a very short walk to the centre of town. It is very efficiently run. My only disappointment was that breakfast was OK but no better than that. I do not think it was lack of effort but rather average culinary skill. If you like Indian food, the meal I had at the nearby Taj Mahal 146 George Street is the best I have ever had. The George Street Fish Restaurant & Chip Shop a lot further down the road was also excellent but, eating in, there is limited space so choose your timing or book. • Going back next year

Where do I start? The hotel is in a perfect location overlooking the bay. The owners Iona and Gilbert are lovely people. We are a group of motorcyclists and have been doing annual tours around Scotland for many years. I can honestly say this just the nicest place we have used in this area. We had an early ferry to mull on our second morning and were offered an early breakfast which was much appreciated. One of our team had an accident on Mull and Gilbert and Iona could not have been more help. The rooms are really well appointed very clean and comfortable. the breakfast was very good. I can only say we will be back. Thank you Iona and Gilbert for being so welcoming and helpful.
