We stopped into Gilberts for dinner one night. It was so crowded, there there were not many places to sit. (This is not their fault). Once we did find a place, our waitress was prompt and attentive. Husband ordered Mahi Mahi, and I a steak and cheese sandwich. His fish was cold on the inside and my sandwich that was suppose to be (piled high) was far from it. For what we got, it was very pricey for sandwiches. Drinks were cold. The band they had there was good. Maybe it was just what we ordered, and the rest of the menu may be better. When we go back to the Keys, this will not be on one of places to stop..

Stopped in to have a drink and a bite to eat. Calamari was overcooked and tasteless. BUT Reg's (band) were fabulous. They played The Doors, Queen etc. Guitar player also uses a bow at times. Service was also good. In fact, Reg's will be playing again next weekend and I am going back with friends.

My family and I just went to a 1 day mini getaway there. Yes, the rooms are remodeled and clean but the property itself is pure filth. The little beach area out back is straight up a puddle with no service or attendant. They call it a resort but it is really far from what a resort is. You can't take your own drinks to the pool because of course they want you to spend the money in their tiki spot. They talk about the bands etc but it's actually all boring. Didn't try the food, but it looked good. It's a family-friendly place because it has a small pool for the kids to enjoy. Around 4pm a truck came to refill the facility with gas. The fumes hit the pool area where there were kids. It's literally right next to the pool. The "resort" is not as great as they make it sound on their website.

We stopped on our way out of the keys for a drink..decided it was a cool Place and booked a room.. drinks were cold ,food was good, beach was wet and rooms were clean and comfy... glad we decided to stay .. and yes theres are bikers everywhere but its the keys and they need a Place to go as well.. .. would definitely come back and recommended for others.. no its not a 5 star resort but when you come to keys you get what the keys have to offer.. fun.sun ,music , drinks and eclectic crowds.. if thats not you go somewhere else.#keyslife

We are just getting ready to leave Gilberts after a 3 night visit - we are a family of four with two children ages 18 and 12. Gilberts has been an amazing place to stay, gorgeous location, the rooms are exceptionally clean and as per the site photos, lovely deck right on the water, friendly staff, lovely food and a gorgeous beach. We couldnt have asked for anything more. If I had to make an observation for an improvement it would be for there to be a mirror in the room (other than the bathroom) as when 4 people are trying to get ready it takes an eternity when the only mirror is in the bathroom, and also to improve on the amount of plastic that is thrown away. There are no glasses - everything is plastic - which plays havoc with my concerns for the environment and my hatred of drinking wine out of a plastic cup! Lol!
