    • Lovely hotel in wrong place

Firstly we got to the hotel from the airport by using the Alibus to the rail station, which cost 4 e per person and then got a taxi to the hotel from there, 17e. Check in was quick and efficient. This advertises itself as a hotel and conference centre, which implies its a business hotel, though it is clearly trying to get the tourist market. The problem for tourists is that you really need a car to stay here. Whilst I dont consider a mile walk to the local shops far, walking that is 35 degree heat is pretty tiring. The hotel offers breakfast at 15e a person. This is expensive, when there is a bar across the road that serves coffee and croissant for about 5e. The hotel itself is clean and the rooms are of a good size. The bathroom is good sized too and the shower is excellent. The overall experience of the hotel is good. The room is cleaned daily, but the room service missed the glasses that had been used one day and didnt replace the coffee cups on another. Back to the local town. Its small and there is a couple of supermarkets. Most restaurants sell pizza. There is one across the road if you dont want the walk. Most of the restaurants in the nearby town have almost exclusively fish menus or pizza. The one across the road does offer steak or chicken. The bakery in the local town is good and cheap. This is also where the nearest mini market is. This is a lovely pool, with lovely staff. We would probably not stay here again due to its location, unless we had a car. The hotel offers a shuttle to Catania at 2e per person. We used this to get into town to meet the Alibus back to the airport.

    • Great hotel, excellent and friendly service (just make sure you understand its location)

Stayed five nights in August. Some of the reviews made us wonder, but it turned out to be a good hotel with excellent staff. We found the location good, but travellers will have their own preferences. The hotel is in Aci Castello, not Catania, and is a 2 km walk from the centre of Aci Castello (if one considers the Norman Castle to be the centre). The walk along the ocean is pleasant, but sidewalks are narrow and 2 km can seem far when it's hot. The section of Aci Castello where the hotel is located is home to numerous beach clubs (including associated bars and restaurants). There is little "beach" so to speak; just rock and the sea. Each club has its own deck with umbrellas and lounge chairs, and the hotel has its own little deck set among those of the clubs. Hotel guests who wish to do so can swim in the sea right below the deck. Kayaks and air mattresses can be rented. In this sense the hotel is located in a very popular area. When we were there, the beach clubs were full (and loud) and cars were parked everywhere along the road. It was nice to enjoy, on the hotel property, the same amenities as those beach clubs, namely pool, poolside food-and-drink service, and a deck with sea access. The hotel's deck is separated from the pool and is accessible via tunnel that runs under the road. Accessing the deck requires both one's room key and a special key to the tunnel gate that is available from the towel staff beside the pool. The hotel pool and deck close at 7 pm. It was odd to stand on the sidewalk at 7:30 pm and overlook the Sheraton's empty deck among all the other decks teeming with people. If you are looking for food and drink a short walk from the hotel, there are only the establishments across the road, most (but not all) connected to beach clubs, but even they take walk-in traffic. If you are looking for more and better dining options then the choice is to drive to Catania (south), drive to Aci Trezza (north) or walk 2 km (also north) to the centre of Aci Castello. (The coast is curved so I am using only rough compass points: north means toward Messina and south means toward Siracusa (Syracuse).) For those without their own cars, travel into Catania is possible by taxi, by hop-on-hop-off bus (there is a stop right by the hotel), or by hotel shuttle. The hotel shuttle has limited hours and should be reserved to ensure seating; cost is 2 euros per passenger. Also, unless I am mistaken, taxis start charging the moment they respond to your call, not the moment they reach you, so there is an price advantage to having the front desk call the taxi that serves the hotel as the cost will be cheaper if it is nearby. The rooms were fine. Air conditioning worked. The breakfast buffet was large and varied (though the options were identical from day to day). Poolside food is good (though priced high as poolside food and drink typically is) and the poolside service is friendly and excellent. Staff service everywhere else in the hotel was also very friendly. Ate dinner once at the hotel restaurant; good food and excellent service. The pool itself was large and the water was warm. We would recommend this hotel to others.

    • Good Hotel

Very good services. Access to the sea from the hotel is very much appreciated. Breakfast choice could be a little bit improved though. We would recommend staying in this hotel if you have a personnal vehicle to reach Catania city center easily.

    • Nice stay

      Reviewed 18 August 2019

We stayed here with my family. We received great service, a clean rooms and great value for money. We arrived very late at night - straightforward checkin. The front desk was very helpful overall and answered my many questions. The deck for the waterfront was closed on 2 of the days we were here and then the weather wasnt great on the other 2 days. However, we had a great stay overall.
