    • One of the most beautiful spots imaginable

      Reviewed 05 September 2019

The hotel is located in a village not too far from Ponta Delgada, and so just a short drive from the airport. One of the first things that astounded us about the place was the beauty of the entire area; photos online can't possibly do it justice. The view we had from our room, looking out over the Atlantic and the mountains and vegetation nearby, was simply amazing. Our room itself was very comfortable and had everything you need for a pleasant stay. All of the staff was very friendly to us, always helping out when we needed something, advising us about places to visit and generally just having a chat. The hotel has both a snackbar and a restaurant. The snackbar is located near the pool and opened until late in the evening, and is a good place to get a drink or a sandwich. We visited the restaurant a few times. It offers both la carte and a buffet. The la carte-menu has some very nice dishes and wines, some of which are local. We didn't have the buffet but it also seemed to feature a lot of Azorean specialties. The pool is quite big, well maintained and surrounded by a lot of places where you can relax. In short: if you're searching for a great hotel on So Miguel, surrounded by lots of beautiful nature and located in a place from where you can get around the island easily, look no further.

    • Loved it

I've always wanted to stay at this hotel. I am so glad I finally did it. It was absolutely everything I was hoping for. Rooms were great. Loved everything about it. Quiet, beautiful and relaxing. Good food and service.

    • A nice place to be stranded!

      Reviewed 17 August 2019

SATA airlines canceled our flight home to Boston and put our group of 10 up in this hotel for one night. It ended up being the highlight of our trip! Absolutely stunning scenery, great pool, clean and comfortable rooms, fabulous food, and great service! There was a gentleman playing Portuguese guitar outside so that we could listen as we watched the sunset over the mountain. Unfortunately they only had rooms for us for one night (we were stranded several days before being able to fly back to Lisbon to catch a flight to the USA), but our stay here took the sting out of being stranded. Would highly recommend this gem!

    • Beautiful Hotel.

      Reviewed 13 August 2019

We had a 3 night rest here after an active holiday. Just as the other reviewers have mentioned this hotel is in a beautiful location, it overlooks the sea and the restaurant has a giant bay window so everyone gets the view. The snack bar is cosy on a lower balcony overlooking the gardens. Go through the gate and down to the bay and there is a natural pool where teens are happy to jump off the rocks into the water without giving Mum & Dad a heart attack. Beware jumping into the sea here... whilst it looks inviting there was a swell and it looked treacherous. Thats for being thrown onto rocks or swept out to sea. There is a black sandy beach 10 minutes walk away but it was closed due to a landslide. The hotel was very green inside and out, very quiet, very clean, lovely comfy beds, friendly, a lovely clean and clear pool deep enough to dive into and long enough for a small swim so kept the youngsters entertained again. The only reason I couldnt put 5 stars was we had the buffet meal in the evening and I felt it was a bit overpriced for what it was. I guess the price reflected the view more than the foods. We went out for the other evening meals. Bit of a walk, about 20 minutes, but saved up to 40 for a family of 5. We didnt try the a la carte. I would heartily recommend this lovely hotel, but you will need a car to visit the rest of the island from here.

    • Stunning views

      Reviewed 05 August 2019

This hotel is spacious, stylish and kept beautifully clean. The rooms are comfortable with large beds made with lovely linen. There was also a day bed in the room to chill out on. All rooms have a stunning sea view from a spacious balcony. Bathroom has toiletries, hairdryer and towels changed sufficiently. All of the public areas are stylish such as the plant filled atrium, additional balconies to sit out on offering different views from your room, an outside sofa area overlooking the bay (great at sunset) and a patio area for eating or having a tipple from the snack bar. The swimming pool is kept clean and was a pleasant temperature in late July/August. Was lovely to have a refreshing dip right up to about 8pm. The views from the pool over the ocean were beautiful too. Breakfast was adequate to good and always fresh and replenished regularly. The pancake making machine was a novelty and well worth having a try especially tasty with honey on. Some of the service in the snack bar was a little pendantic - one day I asked for a cushion to sit on but was told no because it had been raining so I went to our room close by to use my dressing gown to sit on. Ten minutes later the lady came out and gave cushions out for people to sit on. Bit strange. There were two or three incidences like this however the vast majority of people at the hotel were super and it was always lovely to chat with the people at reception. The gardens are immaculate and have may varieties of plants. There is a cute pathway leading down to the rocky bay complete with a natural pool. It is a bit of a scramble to get there but well worth it. Think it would be a good idea to put up a notice by the top of the walkway down to the pool with the best times to use the natural pool for bathing. Fabulous Azores traditional entertainment. The singers, musicians and dancers were extremely talented. Their costumes were amazing. Most exciting of all was when they invited the audience to join in. This was a very special memory to treasure.
