One of the best hotels in Kenya. Very relaxed, beautiful rooms, gorgeous landscape, lots of activities to choose from. The view of Mt Kenya is super awesome. Lots of birds around the hotel. Its just a perfect place to end a safari.

First of all, the view of the majestic Mt. Kenya is to die for. You would have to wake up early to see her before all the cloud cover. Personally, I loved the history of the hotel, aside from the fact that most who visited were hunters, their love for this particular location was evident. Nypha, one of the hotel staff was kind enough to print out a detailed summary of the different owners of the hotel and their motivation toward staying there. The main gate is roughly 1KM from the second gate, as you drive in, you get to enjoy a part of the wildlife since it is a forest and part of the reserve. The check-in process was seamless. Upon arrival, the hotel staff were ready for us since the guard at the main gate had alerted them of our coming. Pretty efficient management. The hotel is well maintained considering how long it has been around for. The lawns are well manicured, there are still many tress within the complex and the bird species that visit the hotel are worth photographing. The hotel also does a bird feeding at 3PM each day. We visited the animal orphanage that evening and the staff suggested that 3PM is a good time to visit. We got to interact with the endangered species, the mountain bongo, there were also other animals which are unique to that climate. It is a must see. Our hotel room was centrally located and directly facing the mountain without any obstructions. The room was clean and I especially loved the ceiling shower which was hot with high pressure. I liked the in-room fire place, the staff would light it up upon request. It made all the difference as it gets quite cold at night. The bed was very comfortable to sleep on. The hotel offers activities which are fairly priced. We booked the early morning nature walk the previous night and confirmed but unfortunately due to poor communication from the front office (different staff answer the front office phone), we were told the next morning that no booking was made but that they would call us back, we waited as we prepared ourselves for breakfast knowing that we weren't going for the nature walk. I then decided to ask my husband to call and to our shock, a lady tells us that our guide had been waiting for us since 7:30, the time we had initially booked. We were really disappointed that we had missed out since it was our last day. Our guide, Francis, was able to make up for the lost time. He was friendly and excited to take us on the walk despite the time, we decided to visit the expanse ranch and it took us 3 hours on foot. His enthusiasm and knowledge of the wildlife and vegetation was astonishing, we got to sample a few wild berries (voluntarily of course). He is also a champion for wildlife conservation which was a plus. Francis was also accompanied by an armed wildlife ranger who had a calm nature even as we passed a large herd of buffalo. The buffalo sensed our presence and immediately alerted the herd and started to walk toward us, we were able to quietly walk away from them with the comfort and re-assurance of our two knowledgable guides. What a frightful and fulfilling experience!! There were many activities to do, however one afternoon the downpour was so heavy we remained in our room and only ventured in the evening for a walk in the gardens. The equator runs along the hotel, with this, we were able to do a simple experiment with water to differentiate the northern hemisphere from the southern hemisphere. It was fun. There is also a maze on the property which you can explore and kind of get lost. The peacocks are very noisy in the day and not a serious bother. The colobus monkeys also come to the room in the morning, be sure to close the windows as they can grab items from the room. The hotel is amazing in so many ways, and I'm glad we got to experience this piece of heaven.

Fairmont Mount Kenya is a BEAUTIFUL property. It is huge with a golf course, pool, hedge maze and ponds. They also have an onsite animal orphanage and air strip! The views from the hotel are surreal - facing mount kenya! One of the must do activities is to go horseback riding by the slopes of Mount Kenya just outside the gates of the resort. You will see herds of zebras and other animals which is super cool! I also love that they set up the fire place in your room at night while you are out at dinner. Super romantic. This property is perfect for celebrations - they really made my birthday celebration special.

      - Hotel: Incredible location and traditional hotel, worth a visit! (9/10) - Room: We did not like our room. We got an upgrade when we arrived, but the room was pretty far away from the main house, with no views, it was like a was in my house in Munich. Nothing special, as the dinning room was pretty big, and a tiny bedroom with no light, not good. The bathroom was pretty new though, and we liked it. If you are going, say you want it in the main building with the views to the Mount Kenya! (5/10) - Staff: Good, but they were expecting tips for everything. We are ok for carrying luggage, but sorry not for every time we go to the restaurant, or we have a drink, or someone comes to our house to fix something. We are already paying the hotel, we are not going to give tips every 5 minutes for every service (6/10) - Food: Mediocre and the worst of our honeymoon. We hate the massive buffets, they are impersonal, and not fresh prepared food. The variety was poor, and focused just in tourists from India. We did not like it (4/10) - Honeymoon details: Nice with the upgrade, the roses, the cake etc. Thank you! However we expected a good room and we did not like it (7/10)

This place is honestly so beautiful!!!! Exceeded my expectations just from the beginning, when we entered the lovely aroma of jasmine flowers around like heaven the property is so beautiful. Everything around was so exquisite and well kept. The food was nice too loved all the meals. Main highlight of the place is there animal orphanage. It's just amazing. You literally get to personally interact with the animals, feed them!!! Thank you to Mr kibet for taking us around and giving us an amazing experience with the animals. I wouldn't forget to mention the kindness offered by the staff to us. Starting from Agnes to Joseph and yea Joshua!!! Joshua you are one of a kind. My kids are mentioning his name until today. He was so good to them they cannot forget him. Thank you to all the staff around for being helpful and kind. It was an incredible experience for us, we enjoyed every minute of it. We shall definitely keep visiting again and again.
