    • El Puerto Restaurant + Lobby Bar at Fairmont Mayakoba

Attention: Mr. Robert-Jan Woltering. The service was outstanding, the food was amazing. As you enter, you are welcomed by the pretty smile of the lovely Jocelyn Reyes. Both Eric (Adrian) Loria -who was most dedicated server to my tables- and Marco Antonio Gregorio who helped during my meal periods, were extremely professional. All overlooked by the leadership of Eusebio Lopez. My admiration and respect. LOBBY BAR: Karla Torres and Araceli Olivares overlooked my evening experiences. One occasion was very memorable and on that afternoon, Sr. Rober and Mrs. Sandra were a delight to meet. I had been in communication with Teresa Lopez prior to my arrival - she answered all my questions. Please send her my regards. I have much appreciation to her.

Tucked away in these lush surroundings is this beautiful resort. Mayakoba itself is a gated more private community of upscale chic hotels. All with their own sense of service and style. My pick in this trip the very friendly Fairmont. The property is beautiful to stay at or get married! Every corner is a photo opportunity. Filled with great food options. From traditional Mexican to a Korean BBQ spot right in the beach and yes they have incredible Japanese! Family friendly with several pools and of course the Willow Spa, the sanctuary filled with exotic treatments. Dont miss a quick trip to the pueblito (village) and local boat ride through its Tropical canals. For a more luxurious experience make sure you book a leisure day at sea on the Herms designed VonDutch yacht. Will I come back... absolutely... Fairmont Mayakoba, where discovery comes Naturally!

    • Amazing hotel

We stayed here during their low season and the service was impeccable. The hotel is amazing and set is lush surroundings. The breakfast buffet is delicious. It is worth trying the al a carte breakfast down by the beach too. The Moscow mule in the Hix bar is one of the best cocktails Ive had. We stayed in a casita and it was lovely. They have thought if everything, even providing mosquito repellent in the rooms. They do have an issue with seaweed. However they do work tirelessly to clean it up. Some days the beach is full of it and others there is next to none. There are benefits to going in the low season. The hotel was so quiet, often we would have the whole pool to ourselves. However on the flip side they do not run as many activities especially for the children and classes in the gym as they would when they are busy. Overall would totally recommend this hotel, special shout out to Guillermo the doorman. He was so kind and helpful. We had hired a car and went to playa del Carmen for dinner most nights. He was so helpful in giving recommendations on where to eat to try authentic Mexican food.

    • Anniversary Trip Beyond Expectations!!

      Reviewed 02 October 2019

First, this is the second time my husband and I have stayed at the Fairmont Mayakoba - the first was an extension of a business trip last year. We decided to come back to the Fairmont because we fell in love with the beauty of the resort and the unparalleled level of customer service, and we thought this would be the perfect place to spend our 5th anniversary weekend. We were not disappointed. From the moment we arrived, Sergio at the front desk took outstanding care of us... He even arranged the option to upgrade our room from a standard room to a villa by the beach, which truly made the weekend memorable! I can't complement the beach/pool bar staff (as well as the drinks/food they served) enough or the people who drive you around the resort in golf carts. Unfortunately, I had to go on this trip with a broken foot, and I was unable to get around without the use of a knee scooter. While being handicapped was inconvenient, the staff was so helpful and accommodating, I hardly felt like it was a struggle to traverse the resort. I also want to complement our boat captain who sailed us around the river throughout the property. He was immensely helpful (getting my scooter on-board, providing bug spray, etc.) and entertaining throughout the tour, and while I can't recall his name, he certainly deserves praise. Additionally, I want to recognize our butler at the beach villa, David. From the moment we got to the room to the moment we left, he handled every request with outstanding responsiveness and professionalism. We even made a request for Advil and sunscreen from the gift shop back at the main resort, and he arranged for it to be brought to our room so we didn't have to leave lounging the pool to get get those items. Finally, for any LGBT travelers reading this review. This resort is 100% LGBT friendly! We discussed it being our 5th anniversary with countless employees throughout the resort, and we were met with nothing but kindness and warm wishes. We also never felt out of place or unwelcome with the other hotel guests. I can't say enough positive things about this resort, and we are looking forward to our trip back next year.

We enjoyed a wonderful week of pampering and relaxation for our 30th anniversary. We stayed closer to the water and enjoyed the seclusion of the locale. We rode the bicycles whenever available, or would catch a ride on the shuttles when we needed. All of the restaurants provided scrumptious food, and the hospitality was superb. Our butler, Daniel, took care that all of our needs were met with proficiency and care no detail went missing.
