This hotel and restaurant were completely perfect for our first night in Spain. Beautiful gardens, great pool, wonderful atmosphere and super friendly service. Only an hour from Santander so an ideal first stop after a long ferry trip with young kids.

    • Lovely gardens and great location

Lovely scenery right up against the mountains, beautiful gardens and characterful hotel all a couple of miles from Llanes. Unfortunately the proximity to Llanes means that the restaurant seemed empty most of the time so is a bit soulless and food quality reflecting somewhere with few customers.

    • Hidden oasis

Even the best reviews don't do this hotel justice. Let's start with their 4 1/2 acre gardens. This lovely outdoor space has been meticulously managed and loved, built over a 20 year period. It has a bubbling brook, rolling grassy pathways and quiet benches with shade and sun to enjoy quiet, private moments. The plants are all native, mature havens for songbirds. Then there's the breathtaking view of the Picos mountain so close you can reach out and touch them, rising 10K feet into the clear blue sky. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable with a hacienda decor. It's a family run hotel so the staff are all friendly, gracious and helpful. The breakfast spread is extravagant with something for everyone: spanish tortilla, yogurt, granola, honey & jams, fresh breads, chorizo and made-to-order eggs or pancakes. The hotel is tucked away in a tiny village just outside of Llanes, making it serene and peaceful. Llanes beaches are less than 10 minute drive away or easy bike ride. Parking in Llanes during the off-season (even on an active Friday night) was no problem but I can imagine it might be trickier on a busy summer weekend. Most of the other area hotels looked a bit worn and funky, trading more on their proximity to the beach. The Habana was far and away the best kept secret.

We stayed here for two nights, originally planning on a one night stay. An oasis of calm in lovely grounds, sympathetically furnished. Breakfasts had a lovely selection of fresh fruits, cereal, meats and cheese, with any cooked options to order. Evening meals were simply and beautifully prepared. The owner is helpful, knowledgeable and very interesting. Recommended!

    • Mum's birthday party and a family meal

      Reviewed 14 August 2018

Myself and all my family went to Hotel El Habana for my mother's 90th birthday and it was spectacular. A friend recommended this hotel and none of us expected to see such a beautiful setting. We had arranged for a few tapas as the party celebration was in the early afternoon. Marco, the manager, was amazing, he couldn't do enough for us. As it was a sunny day, he ensured that we had the best sits in the house, so he set up the table and chairs in the garden (more like a trim forest by the size of it) were we enjoyed the grounds of this hotel. Adults and children alike had the most perfect day, mum had the best birthday party and it was all due to Marco (I think that was his name) who couldn't do enough for us and always with a smile. So we decided to come back 2 weeks later with a larger group of extended friends and family and what a day we had. The food was to die for and spent there all day. Again, Marco was there and made sure we had everything we needed (including a towel when someone had a little incident and got splashed in the swimming pool). The food was delicious and value for money was definitely worth it. We will definitely go back again and we will recommend to friends. 10 out of 10 Thank you for this Marco
