    • Location and view to die for, but rest need a little refresh.

The location is unbeatable, especially with the Lake view room. Big balcony and amazing views around. The check-in and check-out were nice and swift, parking is free and easy to use. Food (had a half-board) was generally good, while the service was terrific and very attentative. Very reasonable prices on drinks (lunch, dinner). Beautiful public spaces, especially the restaurant floristic decoration. Pool area is open 7-21, no time limitations for kids - appreciated. Staff was very friendly, nice, speaking good English and excellent speed of service and overall attitude. The hotel is old and interiors are morally outdated - I think it was last time renovated many-many years back. No free water in the room (only minibar). Dinner was pretty good, but certain dishes were oversalty. Pool is quite small itself, albeit nice temperature and great with kids. Rooms are small, good for two, but no place for child bed.

    • Beautiful hotel but hideously understaffed

      Reviewed 12 September 2019

I stayed for two nights in this hotel, which overlooks the stunning Eibsee lake. It's a shame that, for such a beautifully situated hotel, there were numerous problems. We stayed over a weekend, and noticed that there was only one person behind the bar. They seemed to be covering the bar AND the hotel restaurant at the same time, serving food- which meant disappearing for an hour at a time. We wanted more drinks, but could not find anyone to serve them to us. Silly really, since we would have spent a lot more money if there was actually someone serving drinks. Next of all, the information given when checking in at the hotel is lacking. Apparently you have to book dinner if you want it- something we weren't told about upon check-in. We had to wait around in the bar (where we got one drink before the poor bar-man vanished again) for an hour and a half before we got available tables. Ridiculous. A hotel should be able to cater for their guests at any hour when it comes to food, not make them wait until 8pm to eat! You could tell they were very understaffed. Ironically enough, at breakfast the next morning they seemed to have too many staff running about the place doing nothing! The room was very spacious and we had a lovely view of the mountains outside our window. The hotel has spa facilities and a swimming pool which are really nice. And of course we went for a dip in the lovely lake Eibsee, despite the freezing water. Overall it was a nice stay, but the hotel has a lot to work on, training-wise and numbers-wise when it comes to providing service. I might return in another 10 years or so, which should be ample time to re-vamp things. I left disappointed.

    • Beautiful scenery!

Stayed only one night. Large room with partial lake view. Perfect for three of us. This is a hidden gem and escape from busy tourist areas. Quiet, beautiful scenery on the lake We walked the 7.5 km trail around the lake and it took 1.5 hours at a fast pace. Five course dinner included- very good and friendly service from our waitress. Tasty meal with choice of three main dishes. Breakfast buffet was good -busy and congested in the food area. Weather allowed us to sit outside lakefront. Seespa/sauna area- this was confusing for a foreigner as my family did not realize that shower and spa/sauna area is co-ed. It would be very helpful if the hotel provided an outline of German culture and expectations! I felt uncomfortable walking into the shower area full of naked men as I did not expect this! Beach area has many lounge chairs. SUP and kayaks available free of charge which is nice. Bike rental is extra charge. 26E for three hours. I wish my family could stay longer! I will visit again some day! One of my favorite memories of time spent in Germany!! Thank u! Front desk staff is very friendly (Tina) and their English is very good.

This was our first stay in the region and it was absolutely wonderful. Our location and the view from our balcony was superb. The staff was responsive and very friendly. Our breakfasts were great, you name it and it was available. We will visit the Eibsee again next year...

    • Wonderful hotel with exceptional views

Stayed here in June of 2018 for 2 days. I had been to the area multiple times before and wanted to stay at or near the lake. Hotel is older but well kept with all the amenities. Room was spacious with a balcony overlooking the lake. Friendly staff, even to this American. Helpful with directions. Rented a E-Bike for a nominal sum and rode the area which I highly recommend. Bike was newer and in great shape. Can walk to the tram or ride the train or a bus into Garmisch and other surround areas. Car parking was onsite. Highly recommend the hotel and the area.
