We came here our last night before flying out of Quebec City. Our server Felix was wonderful. Helpful and happy to suggest what was best we had the grilled goat cheese salad followed with a tortiere for my wife and the tri-tenderloin for myself. It was excellent and complemented by superior wine. We ended with a very good slice of maple sugar pie. If you wish to try real french/traditional Canadian cuisine you could do far worse then starting here! We cant wait to come back again!

Our first visit was a drop-in for lunch. We had the meat pie (tourtiere) and the salmon pie, oh, and Grandmeres pea soup. Although dessert was included, we had no more room. The soup was merely nice, but the pies were outstanding. They were savory and warmly comforting on a very cool day. We so enjoyed ourselves, we made reservations for the following evening. This time we had the turnip soup. Dont turnip your nose! I hate turnips. I loved this soup. My main dish was Beef Wellington. It was perfect on all counts, better than I had in England (sorry, Brit friends), and my husband had bison bourguignon. He very kindly did not say it was better than my version of bourguignon, but I could tell by his dreamy expression. At dessert time, I had their triplet of sorbets which was a lovely ending. Spouse had the chocolate pie with raspberry sauce. He swooned again and gave me a small bite. It reminded me of very soft and moist brownies in a crust. We had to buy the cookbook because the recipe is in it. Hey, I will even make that turnip soup this winter. Service was excellent, and the ambience is cozy and inviting.

We enjoyed everything about this gem of a restaurant. The food, the decor, the service were all perfect. The pt, the meat pie, the scallops and shrimp were outstanding and we topped it off with bread pudding and chocolate cake. We highly recommend a stop here.

On our last evening in Quebec we wanted to experience traditional food that was more than the diner/burger/steak that so many places offered. We certainly weren't disappointed with this restaurant. The setting was very traditional and homely and so was the food. We settled for the Formule offering but even this gave us plenty of choice on all courses. Very French in some respects but equally very much like the food of the early settlers - game being offered in abundance. Everything came with a clear explanation of its history and contents all delivered by our waiter. A young lad but very knowledgeable - I think it was Sam.
