    • Perfect, beautiful hotel in Sciacca

      Reviewed 10 June 2019

We loved our 4-night stay in the Domus Maris! We found the hotel staff to be exceptionally pleasant and helpful. It seemed that every person working the front desk spoke multiple languages and did his/her utmost to assure we enjoyed our stay at the hotel and in Sciacca. The breakfast buffet was excellent and something we looked forward to each morning. We bought a bottle of local wine and sat on our balcony each evening enjoying the sunset over the harbor. Lovely . . . The parking situation worked out fine for us but it is a matter of timing; after all, this is an old city. We thoroughly enjoyed the Ape Taxi tour of Sciacca and will forever have fond memories of our stay at the Domus Maris.

    • Lovely hotel -- parking is the only (sometimes) issue

We spent two nights at this lovely boutique hotel on a recent 3-week trip through Sicily. As others have noted, the hotel is modern, immaculate and well-designed, especially the bathrooms which use space and design elements very well. We found it extremely comfortable and we liked the town a lot. We used it as a base for a day trip to Valley of the Temples (about an hour's drive and not to be missed) and for Selinunte (equally fascinating). Sciacca is not particularly a tourist destination, which was a plus for us, and we enjoyed strolling through the town, taking in the gorgeous harbor views and dining at two excellent restaurants just a few minutes walk from the hotel. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The one point, as others have noted, is parking. The hotel is on the busy main street that runs through town. Even stopping to drop off or pack in luggage can be a challenge. The hotel tries to use two spaces in a nearby square for these purposes, but cars are often in those spots. When we were there, we were unable to get a spot in the nearby parking lot (on a busy Sunday) but finally found a spot in another lot up the street. This isn't a deal-breaker by any means, given the pleasures of the hotel, but it is something to be aware of, and the hotel doesn't have the staff to do this task for their guests, so be prepared to allot some time for the parking situation. Otherwise, this is a top choice for the area and we enjoyed the town and the hotel very much.

    • Amazing hotel

We stayed here for 4 nights and the rooms were very clean and tastefully decorated with superb views over the port. The staff were all super friendly and helpful and could not help us enough with our questions and requirements. The breakfast was so fresh and the service great. We were able to park quite close for free after dropping off our luggage near the front of the hotel Would definitely recommend Domus Maris to other travellers requiring a lovely hotel in the centre of Sciacca .. we loved it !!! • Beautiful hotel but Sciacca just too quiet for us

      Reviewed 25 May 2019

This is an absolutely beautiful boutique hotel with lovely views across the sea. The harbour below is what I would describe as industrial/commercial (it is not the prettiest) but it is a working town and to be expected. Do not let that put you off. We were told that we had been upgraded to a junior suite upon arrival at no extra cost which was a lovely surprise. The room definitely had the wow factor - spacious and airy, beautiful furnishings and a large balcony overlooking the sea. What more could you want! The room also had tea and coffee making facilities, mini bar, flat screen tv with Sky, robes and slippers. The staff were a delight - after dinner we had a drink at the bar and a lovely young lady served us and chatted to us for quite some time. She was very pleasant and polite. Breakfast was also good - plenty of choice. We are a couple in our early thirties and unfortunately Sciacca was just too quiet for us at this time of year. We were the only people in the restaurant we chose in the evening and we noted that most other restaurants were the same. We are not party animals but we did expect there to be slightly more of an atmosphere. Sciacca is quite a nice sea side town but it does not put any airs on for tourists (not that it should). It is an ideal location for passing through as we did (on our way to Palermo after Agrigento) but I would not have wanted to stay longer than a night.
