We arrived early and were met by a disgruntled manager/owner, I have a large car and we were made to park where it was getting attacked by overhanging trees and foliage everywhere. The building was more like amityvile than the photos when I booked. The owner curtly told us we were early so we offered to go into Castres and return later so as not to inconvenience him ? He grunted, turned and beckoned us to follow him, his jeans displayed a 12 inch split across his right buttock leaving his bare cheek fully exposed ? We entered the building which was met by the stench of tobacco and stale odour and he went upstairs to our room, it smelt worse. He then proclaimed that he was indeed the human key and that there was no locking mechanism for our door. Having personal belongings left unguarded and open to anyone, plus our own safety compromised by an open door policy is unacceptable, security, it is primary and the most essential part of a room for hire ? He then disappeared better than David Blane, we called, shouted, rang reception, absolutely nothing so after a few minutes we left. This is by far the worst hotel and experience we have ever encountered in our many years of travel and has a totally unacceptable guest ethic, I have checked other reviews who have also fell foul of the Castres flasher

We stayed here for four nights. The house is very old with lovely grounds. We had quite a large bedroom with two large built in wardrobes, large comfortable bed, desk, coffee table, four chairs, coffee machine, kettle, television with only French programs (not that we minded), large bathroom with two wash basins across the hall with a screen to protect privacy. The breakfasts were very good and the dinners even better. We loved it here. Merci Jean pour votre hospitalite.

Beautiful interior and rooms; note the grand wooden staircase. Quiet setting, comfortable bed with very spacious room; ours was decorated in shades of purple. Superb breakfast and dinner, very good value as owner is an excellent chef. This is a good base for day trips. Dont pass up this one!

I stayed here in January 2017. I booked this for myself and four friends. There was only one problem this was our first night and the others expected the same quality for the next two and they did not get it. Brilliant place with superb rooms and breakfast was something else entirely really good. I came into the room and there were only a few seats left. I sat at the head of the table and good ideas of royalty. Louis the 19th. Don't book this place I might want to go again.

Owner introduced the place as an "ancient ferme", which it clearly is not, it is a manor like grand house with the backbuildings inhabited by poor people. Owner refused to give us a room key saying "I am the key". Proposed a dinner table at a place with the worst ever valuations at Tripadvisor I ever saw - and complained when I refused to follow his recommendation saying he already phoned there. The room was quite large with dark red textile wallpaper and otherwise ok, but to reach the bathroom we had to cross the hall behind a moveable privacy shield. We had no alternative but to stay there. Breakfast was at a long table for all guests sitting together, the owner sitting next to the table, and we came to know that we were not the only ones questioning what a place we have met here. By the way, the owner in the morning moved around in kind of an trainer leaving half of his buttocks open to be viewed by everybody. I would not describe this weird picture if I had not seen it by myself.
