    • Fish and Chips eat in

      Reviewed 27 July 2019

Fantastic fish and chips. Decided to eat it in the separate little room looking out over the harbour.

    • A, 'Real Gem' of the Great British Chippy! :)

I had a, 'simply fabulous tasting' 3.30 Special: Fishcake, Chips and Curry! It was the best (Fish & Chips) I had had in a very, very long time indeed! I chose to sit in the, 'very quaint' cafe area, (after needing a bit of peace and quiet) before an important work meeting etc, and had a nice chat with the very nice Owner and Staff Members etc! :) Thanks ever so much for this, 'Real Gem' of the Great British Chippy! :) Best Wishes for the Future!. Yours, Carl R. Hussey, BA PGCert. :)

    • The Pearl of Bangor Bay

      Reviewed 05 July 2019

This pearl cannot be found in any seashell. It can however be discovered directly opposite the Waterfront Carpark at Bangor Bay on the A5 approach to the City of Learning, Bangor in Gwynedd. I am of course referring to a most exquisite local Fish & Chip Cafe. "Gladys Owen" which offers such incredible succulent, tasty, enjoyable portions of fish and chips that I have ever revued and there have been many. The place is so modest in appearance one might easily drive past. Look out for the Fish sign hanging over the door. Spotting it would be a challenge to any young child or mature adult for that matter. But seriously the chips are to die for and the fish is served in a delicate crisps batter. Then the establishment has been serving the public for over 54 years. There are ample tables to eat-in, in a very friendly atmosphere. However, I prefer to park up and admire the Waterfront from the comfort of my own vehicle. To miss this venue would be a lose. Highly recommended to all.

    • Working Class Fish and Chips

      Reviewed 18 May 2019

The fish and chips here was very good, but the real pleasure for us here was the atmosphere. This is really a neighborhood place, and the friendly owner was a joy to converse with. She pulled out all the stops to make us feel comfortable in the little dining room across a tiny hall that leads into the shop: it is not a glamorous chain shop or a rustic pub, but just a place where hard working people grab a bite. As the address indicates, it is right across from the water. You really will feel the atmosphere of the "corner fish and chip shop" here; when visitors often cave in to the "tyranny of the familiar" when looking for a place to eat, this place can truly claim to be a "local experience".

      Reviewed 07 May 2019

Maybe it was an off day but my experience was not as good as most of the reviews on here. The lady did say it had been quiet so maybe the chips had been left a while but they were an odd colour. The fish was certainly cooked fresh to order but the batter let it down for me too.
