    • Clean and Close to Metro, but Gray and Dark

If you are staying in the Crystal Gateway Marriott for business or an event, you could do a lot worse. Marriott offers a high level of quality. Our room and bathroom were clean. Counter space in the bathroom is ample. The thermostat, TV, and refrigerator all worked well. The Metro and blocks of underground shops and restaurants are available without going outside at all. However, there are problematic design choices in the room that may not be visible in pictures -- or may have been selected just *because* they look sharp in pictures. I have never stayed in a room that was decorated in so many shades of gray -- including the bathroom. Even with all the lights on, the room was depressingly dark. Combined with a view of Crystal City's Soviet style architecture, this is no place to stay for a bright and cheery capital visit. Other design choices seem similarly questionable. The only towel rack in the bathroom is in the shower, which is silly when an adjacent wall houses a huge framed picture. The modern chaise by the window is impressive, but it blocks access to the control rods that open or close the draperies. The comforter is thick but harder to share than blankets would be. In addition, we find comforters difficult to adjust during the night when a bed gets too warm. Finally, the sound of doors closing along our hallway was impossible to ignore. If the doors are so heavy, why could we hear hallway noise so easily? One item to note if you walk in the neighborhood: There is no access into the hotel from Richmond Parkway, the busy street behind it. In addition, part of the huge Crystal Gateway building is an apartment tower, and access to the hotel is not permitted from 15th Street. If you walk somewhere underground, it's probably best to return that way. In addition, the parking garage is large and there is more than one elevator bank. If parking on site, make note of your car's location. There is no elevator access on the parking garage's mezzanine level.

Exciting experience at the Crystal Gateway as it is a beautiful hotel with an excellent customer service, accommodations were above expectations, room service and hotel dining excellent and centrally located. One would really not go wrong utilizing this facility.

Customer service is off the chain. Free upgrade, cake and champagne to celebrate my birthday. Love the bar and restaurant and the suite are the best. We love being near the airport and watching the planes land and take off.

A large group of family stayed at this Marriott for a funeral this weekend. It was a fantastic place to stay. We bought rooms that included use of the M Club. Absolutely perfect! The staff was friendly & accommodating. I would stay here again & highly recommend the hotel.

The hotel is very nice in the lobby area with lots of nice places to sit and work. my room was fine, although rather dark (not good lights). The fan was loud and outlets are substandard for this day and age. Other Issues were unclear signage in parking garage for self parking (nice that you can do that and plenty of spaces but make it easier to find the elevator!) and not enough desk staff for check out.
