    • A hotel that you cant sleep in!

      We had a one night stay in this hotel, 2 rooms and 2 cars parked for 15 days, we had a nice dinner, the hotel ordered a cab for us, that arrived 15minutes late and then tried to charge us 20.50 to take us to the terminal. After a confrontational call to his office, it was agreed at 13.50. We got a cab in July (from another Gatwick hotel) and this was 11.00, so we know what it should cost. On our return, we booked to stay the night at the Hotel, because our flight landed around midnight, so we didnt want our husbands to drive tired. On arrival, the night manager advised us that the rooms were pay on arrival which I have never had to do before, but they had my cc details so all was ok. We were allocated room 105 & 107. We went to the rooms, which are very dated but clean, so ok for a night. Thats where normality ended. The rooms were next to the engine room and the noise which was a loud droning/humming noise filled the whole space. This was now 1.20am and sleeping was impossible. We got into bed, thinking maybe its the heating/generators and maybe they might just go off or quieten down at some point. No chance. I text my sister, who was in the next room and she told me that the night manager had said my cc had been declined. We both went down to the reception, to complain about the rooms, and I demanded he check the cc payment, which had NOT been declined....his mistake!!!. There was a rowdy bunch in the reception, shouting, arguing and generally making a racket, which we could hear upstairs, to which the manager said, he had tried to control them. He then gave us another 2 rooms in the 3rd floor, which he said were superior rooms. We only wanted to sleep, as this was now 3am!!!!! We finally got into the rooms and sleeping at 3.30am. We spoke to the receptionist in the morning and she apologised. Now we understand why they are pay on arrival, they know the rooms are not fit for purpose, so they charge up front and wont refund your money. I have emailed for a refund. They have ignored it. Will never stay here again.

      Well after reading the many negative reviews I had to write my review to reassure anyone feeling anxious and give praise and positivity where it's due! 1. Pleasant English speaking receptionists, no language barrier here. (many reviewers remarked on non English speaking staff being a problem) 2. Reception didn't ask for our car keys, we were really concerned about this as our car is our pride and joy (many reviewers commented on being asked for keys and their cars were moved) either way it's obviously not the rule to hand over your keys. 3. Lovely clean, shiny lift up to our room. (No bad smells whatsoever) 4. The room was lovely! Comfy bed, no carpet stains. Fridge, free WiFi and toiletries. USB sockets. I've travelled a fair amount and stayed in much worse places believe me! Obviously rooms are being refurbished as promised. 5. Prebooked 3 course dinner for 2 @ 39 - so it's a shorter menu than the full menu and we asked if we could order off the main menu for the difference. No problem! The food is excellent fine dining which was a big surprise and the staff were very attentive and pleasant. A little background music would greatly improve the restaurant ambience. 6. Shuttle to the airport is 5 per person. You get a taxi for your return journey at approx 13 (we were given a taxi card at reception) Hopefully my review assures people that it's absolutely not all doom and gloom here, maybe we just got lucky but as far as I can see it's really good value for money at 81 for 10 days parking and room for the night. A nice stay thank you!

      We stayed here solely because it offered great value parking on site and was near Gatwick airport. We only stayed 1 night just to get the parking as it worked out cheaper than parking at the airport. There is a shuttle for 5 each but a taxi is more efficient and only14. The hotel itself is dated and not somewhere I would stay for any length of time just because the facilities are not great. There are a couple of bars and a restaurant but the food and drink are expensive. The room was very spacious but the carpet needed replacing and the soap etc was basic. It was understaffed but the ones that were there were helpful and friendly. The collection of the car upon return went very smoothly. Not all taxis from there except credit / debit cards and just cash so if you want to pay by card make sure when you book your taxi with the hotels recommended company you tell them you need a car which a card reader

      Stayed as part of a Holiday Extras package with parking. It was good value and location is obviously good but you get the distinct impression you're given the worst rooms. After check-in in the grand lobby, the decor in the corridors and in the room is a tatty disappointment. The room was absolutely huge but there were loads of stains on the carpet and the decor was very dated.

      I would not stay here again: It took 27 minutes from arrival to actually park my car and check in - it was to coin a phrase a complete "nightmare". The reception staff (just one person on duty) who also was the Duty Manager sent me on a wild goose chase. I was "promised" a call from the hotel manager today, needless to say this did not happen. The carpet in my "upgraded room" needs a really good deep clean - the rooms are old and tired, and not even a USB socket! Overall Customer Experience 2/10 - poor indeed.
