    • Quiet, restful

      Reviewed 06 March 2020

I enjoyed a high quality, quiet rest for a night between travel to Anchorage and South-central Alaska. Excellent service: airport transportation, front desk, dining room. Everyone was extremely courteous. Everything was spotlessly clean! Would definitely stay here again & recommend to others.

I received notice from that I needed one additional stay by December 7 to maintain my current inventory of 7 stays. Upon 10 stays I would be eligible for a free stay. I booked a reservation at this hotel for one night. Upon trying to check in to this hotel, and presenting my ID and credit card, I was told my reservation would not be honored because I am a resident of Anchorage. I have lived in Anchorage for 60 years and have never heard of such a rule. They said they would book me into the other Comfort Suites (on the far side of town) but I was not willing to drive on the icy roads across town. There are many instances an Anchorage resident would need to stay at a hotel (earthquake damage, frozen water pipes, fire damage, etc.) I work for a major airline in the summer. We often put "distressed" passengers in a hotel due to a cancelled or delayed flight. This would have been an excellent time for me to review this hotel for future passengers. I will not recommend or willingly book a passenger into this hotel.

    • No Anchorage residents allowed

Every New Years Eve, my husband and I rent a hotel room and take our kids. We rent hotels that have a pool and good breakfast. You know, a mini staycation. Reserved a room here and about an hour later I get a call from the hotel. Asked me if I made a reservation, yes I did. Asked if I'm an Anchorage resident, yes I am. "Sorry but unfortunately we don't rent to Anchorage residents." Unfortunate. We stayed here 8 years ago on a New Year's Eve and had a blast. They had a salt water swimming pool and was cheaper than the other places in town. But I guess this year we are not staying here because of a no locals rule. Wish it would have been stated more obvious on their website. Won't be staying at any Choice Hotels in the future.

Last July son Steven was playing for Rugby Canada vs USA in Anchorage Alaska and we stayed 2 nights at the Comfort Suites--what you see in the picture is exactly what you get-a simple 2 twin bed set up /bathroom -that was satisfactory for our stay--the management was very helpful in arranging travel via their van to local restaurants no charge--and a breakfast --cereal/waffles/Fruit/Coffee --included--accomodations in Anchorage are expesive all around--Comfort Inn no exception-overall--satisfacxtory for what we needed short term.

    • Hard to find

I decided to stay close to the airport due to an early flight in the morning. The hotel is close and they provide transportation to the airport. Let me say this hotel took me 20 minutes to find using Google maps for directions. It is on the "old" road of the same name and not visible from the road. The hotel was very average. The dining room was closed for the evening so I had to go to the airport for dinner. I have to say the staff was very nice. I had made a reservation for an early morning shuttle to the airport. Upon arriving at the front desk, no one was to be found. It turns out they were all upstairs trying to get a drunk out of the hallway! Someone finally arrived ten minutes late. I ask for my early morning sack breakfast and was presented with a bag containing a bottle of water and a granola bar. I did make it to the airport on time. The price was very good but I would not recommend this hotel for the discerning traveler.
