    • Lacking

      Reviewed 01 July 2019

This hotel has been transformed to a Quality Inn and it really isn't even a very good Quality. The setup is okay, although a little strange (for Maryland) with the front desk and breakfast area being separate from the sleeping rooms. The staff was very nice and the room was clean, but the whole place is in desperate need of updating. The TV was exceptionally small, had a very small selection of station and had no HD service. Really no A&E or other basic channels and no HD? This is 2019. The breakfast is what you would expect at a Quality. Nothing bad, but I've had a lot worse. I've been in worse place and I would stay here again because it is in a nice location and the price is nice. Not a bad place, just needs some TLC.

    • Good for the Price

Pros: - Clean lobby and room when we entered - Front desk attendant was super helpful when we checked in - Big parking lot - Bathroom showerhead had several different spray settings which was nice - Always fresh towels when cleaning staff came - Cleaning staff treated belongs well (I came back and my Bill the Navy Goat was propped up nicely on the pillows.) - Lots of choices for breakfast - Lots of choices from the vending machines (also refunds if purchase gets stuck and doesn't fall) - Pretty walking area between the lobby and rooms Cons: - Bathroom does not have exhaust fan for steam from shower - Bathroom doorknob loose - Bathroom wallpaper peeling - Wi-Fi rarely worked

    • Good value

I am giving this three stars mainly because the price was good in comparison to other hotels in the area. The room could use a little updating, the wallpaper was peeling in the bathroom and the bathroom door knob was falling apart. Otherwise the room was clean and spacious and we found the staff to be helpful and pleasant.

    • Comfort/Quality Inn w/ some quirks

      Reviewed 18 May 2019

As other recent reviewers have noted, this Comfort Inn is converting (has converted?) to a Quality Inn. The large sign out front had a "Quality Inn" banner stretched over the original "Comfort Inn" sign. I made the reservation much in advance, so when I looked at my original reservation confirmation E-Mail, it identified as a Comfort Inn. Later, as my travel date approached, I received a reminder E-Mail stating that it was a Quality Inn. A comparison of the address & phone number quickly identified what was going on. Still, they both belong to the same Choice Hotels brand, so no big deal. As another reviewer stated, a quirk of this hotel is that you cannot get to the front desk or breakfast area w/o going outside. The rooms & front desk are basically in 2 different buildings that aren't internally connected. It wasn't a big deal, but was certainly odd. We didn't have any real bathroom venting issues. There is no bathroom fan per se. As w/ many hotels, they have a central venting system that continuously runs, constantly venting (theoretically). I noticed that the vent in our bathroom had a bit of dust collecting on the grating, so I suspect the system needs a good cleaning to improve overall venting. Other than that, we got a fairly decent rate (for Annapolis). It was fairly quick & easy to get back onto US50/301 in either direction, or to get onto MD 450 to head to the Naval Academy (our destination).

    • Disappointing

      Reviewed 07 May 2019

The Annapolis Comfort Inn near the Chesapeake Bay Bridge was recently renamed the Quality Inn with no indication of the name change in the signage or reservation information, making arrival somewhat confusing initially. This lack of detail signaled issues with our stay. The front desk person was friendly young person but seemed somewhat befuddled by our request for a first floor room (we are 70 with mobility issues). The room itself was okay but had a distinctly unpleasant odor. We came in late and did not want to hassle with the front desk. When I raised this with the front desk person the next morning, another young and seemingly inexperienced person, he was apologetic but did not offer an adjustment or compensation for the less than good service. Hopefully these difficulties will get ironed out.
