    • Nice location but not good value

      Reviewed 21 August 2019

My wife and I stayed for one night on our way to the coast. On the positive side, the staff was extremely welcoming and helpful and the grounds are delightful. The breakfast outdoors was particularly charming and delicious. On the more disappointing side, we had booked what was described as a Junior suite for EUR240 a night, which turned out to be a large room on the last floor under the roof. For those familiar with French classic architecture this is where the servants used to be housed and is called a chambre de Bonne. While spacious, the ceilings are low and the room only had two tiny windows as well as done strange partition for a walk in closet which did not reach the ceiling. In a nutshell, describing this low ceiling room with very little light located under the roof as suite where the servants used to be housed as a suite is very misleading and overpriced considering the other accommodations available around St Rmy.

    • Stunning Ancient Hotel

If you are drawn to ancient properties, you will enjoy wandering through this place, discovering the library and the beautiful views. The tree-lined boulevard that runs from the road to the parking lot is remarkable. Strolling around the gardens is fun. Tip: The food at the hotel restaurant is only fair, but sitting outside on a nice night is a wonderful experience. I recommend getting dinner in town and just enjoying dessert (pretty good) at the hotel.

I stayed in the Chteau with my family for one night. The welcoming landscape at arrival is stunning and you can suddenly feel the charm of a Provenal residence. However, once you get familiar with the hotel, you notice that many areas lack of maintenance. The park is very big and beautiful, but there are zones of the garden that are left without care. The rooms are very clean, but there is no coherence in the interior decoration - mixed paintings, textures and materials that clash on an expert's eye. Bathrooms have been renewed and look beautifully tidy. No room service available, the restaurant is closed on Monday. The bar service is at the reception and drinks cannot be taken to the room. The staff is nice, however the overall experience could be definitely a unique experience with efforts. I provided a written feedback at the reception at the end of the stay, highlighting the poor quality and offer given to clients at breakfast and I still see that after my stay the comments about breakfast remain the same. Problem unsolved. At brekafast alternative dairies are not displayed and there are no labels indicating that you have to ask for them. Morning French pastries look pale and uninviting, charcuterie is of two types only. The principle of using local products would be a winnning strategy if the variety and the presentation could be implemented. Not a good value for price.

    • Excellent stay

      Reviewed 05 July 2019

We stayed here for 1 night, during our France road trip. The Chteau is wonderfully appointed and the reception staff very friendly and effective. Since we stayed during a the heatwave plaguing France, we were glad the rooms had AC. Our previous Chteau experience in the Loire Valley left us... sweaty through the night. They rooms are large and well laid out. You have all the required creature comforts and a large well laid out bathroom. Our only point of criticism is the breakfast. Breakfast runs from 7:30-10:00 and we had our breakfast at 9am. Unfortunately, by that time, many of the items had been picked clean and werent replenished.

Rural setting. Lovely 20 minute walk into St Remy along country lane. Restaurant not available for evening meal. They had a large booking. They did advise us a week in advance Friendly staff. Rustic charm. Poor breakfast sadly. Poor choice and not very well presented.
