We booked two nights in this hotel but we already booked another one for our second night!! The room is very old and dirty. We had a floor carpet but really disgusting with dirty spots on it, ass well as on one of our towels. You don't want to walk around here bare foot! On the bed was a sheet with big holes in it en turned towards the bed so we could not see at first sight. Also a cranky old bed en the noise at night!! My boyfriend and i are straight awake here in the middle of the night. Just a really dirty hotel!! Don't come here!

From Cape Town to the islands this Hotel is a perfect stop over spot. Take the Bus X96 from the airport- 6 euro to Miramare Hotel- 30mins. The bus stops outside the hotel. Rooms are small for 1 night - Breakfast suffices and The Hotel staff are friendly. Easy by taxi to Piraeus port - for your ferry to the islands.

    • Cheap and close to Airport Bus-stop

Stayed here for one night after a late evening flight into Athens, and before an early morning flight out to the islands. Selected hotel based on its price, proximity to airport, and to airport bus-stop. And in the mistaken belief we had stayed there before. Despite late arrival, friendly and helpful reception, but at this point the pluses run out. The hotel is very run down, the furnishings need replacing (curtains, carpets), the shower/toilet facility was basic. The bedlinen appeared clean, but we were too tired to look overly closely. We arrived in the dark, left in the dark, and I'm not sure I'd want to see the room in daylight. That said, while we would not stay there again, if what you need is a cheap overnight stop with easy access to the airport and/or Piraeus, this place could be OK.

    • Quiet, nicely located for airport/beach, "vintage"

Two night stay in this "vintage" hotel. Pros: - 100m from beach - a friendly elder greek man at reception - room 10 has a sink and nice 6m2 balcony - vintage feeling of the good old days - hospital/park in front of you - 3-4 coffee shops / bakers downstairs - busstop for X96 directly to airport - 2 24/7 street shops in front of the hotel - common terrace on 1st / 2nd floor - great water pressure in shared shower - clean sheets and a/c - relatively quiet room - great value for money Cons: - You can see the place could need some renovation - Carpets are a bit shabby and areas are renewed cosmetically - a/c is old and can not be switched below 25degrees (which is actually fine) --> short-circuit - locks on the doors seem a bit fragile (though they claim to never have had an incident) With a little bit of dedication and love you could make a wonderful place out of this hotel. ...then it would be more expensive. The nights i spent here were fantastic and I slept very well. I would return and recommend it for short stays and for easy going travellers...

    • I loved my stay at this little one off hotel.

I have stayed here for twenty five nights June 2017. first I will say that most negative things that have been said about this hotel have some elements of truth. BUT. it all depends on how you choose to look at it The Miramare is a small hotel i think 28 rooms ish. the staff are a small tight team and friendly, I was always greeted and made to feel welcome.reception was manned twenty four hours a day. and my towels were fresh each day the room cleaned and my sheets were changed several times a week. the hotel is tired ,but cosy comfortable and clean. I had a balcony facing right onto the sea and this was first thing saw when waking and last a night. I think most if not all the rooms have a balcony. traffic was a issue because of the boy racers at night .I think next time I may ask to stay on the side and forego the seaview to be further away from the road, the view would still be a open vista, Some of the shops that surround the base of the hotel are open 24 hours. next to the hotel is a church, and a large open courtyard. all of life can be seen here, the church is very active feeding the poor and those in need, the homeless mix with elderly widows dressed in black and children play as their parents have coffie. everybody rubs along well. the hotel is situated directly across from the sea and their is a choice of beaches within walking distance also a upmarket supermarket next to the church where the staff are more than helpful. transport is excellent . you can leave the hotel and be at the base of the acropolis in less than one hour or indeed go the other way and be further out to a selection of beaches and wonderful lake voulgliamini. the price .transport, ease of doing everything. and the warm welcome make this a special place I can't wait to find a way to go back again. one last thing I was aware of the complaints about smoking I brought along citrenella that was helpful in the room, I think the staff are also aware of the complaints and I noticed most of the smoking happens outdoors. finally I want to add this is a friendly family run business it comes with all the quirks you get in a family. how refreshing after staying at big international hotels at six times the price!
