    • Watch stolen

      Reviewed 09 June 2019

Stayed here for 2 nights and although it is a lovely place my watch was stolen from our room. I had left it in my wash bag hung up in the bathroom. Noone else had access to the room except for housekeeping. It took 2 emails to the property to get a response and they simply said "your watch wasnt stolen you mustve lost it elsewhere". There was nowhere else the watch could have gone! Disappointing! This was a lovely hotel yet if you are going to stay here hide / dont take your valuables.

    • Amazing hotel in Coimbra!

This hotel has an excellent location, in the high part of Coimbra. At waking distance to many major attractions. We got room 14, on the third floor. An attic renovated into a delicious and cosy room. There are no elevators but the room is worth your while. Comfortable bed, excellent shower, a mini bar, roomy and well-lit. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was delicious, offering a variety of foods. I totally recommend it!

Passing by Coimbra we decided to stay for one night, and stayed for one night everything was perfect and the breakfast was very nice..very friendly staff the only thing to mention is the high price of the wine. Should have more options overall very charming and very good taste for decoration. the price is very fair!! i will come back for sure!

    • Excellen guest house - good value for money!

      Reviewed 01 December 2018

Casa de Sao Bento is a great guest house in a nicely renovated old building. The style is contemporary but the building gives the place a nice distinctive ambiance. Service was excellent and the rooms are spacious and comfy. Breakfast is served in the same hall as the lobby which is not ideal but I felt it didn't really cause any trouble. There was a kitchenette in my room with a fridge, microwave and sink etc. but the fridge is empty. You can buy drinks + food from the lobby bar which is open until midnight if I am not mistaken. However, there is no room service. The location is not super central - it's located near the city prison. Not exactly scenic but the trip to the central areas is only 15 mins on foot and it's a nice route through the hilly inner city. However, there are tons of restaurants and bars in the vicinity so eating out is easy within a 5-minute walk as well. All in all a great experience and good value for money. The only "drawback" would be the slightly off-central location but I didn't find this to be a real issue as I love walking and exploring cities on foot...

    • Great place to stay

      Reviewed 04 November 2018

The guest house is really terrific. It is within walking distance to everything, and we would stroll through the botanical garden on the way home -- made it very relaxing. There is a nice restaurant just down the street, but you do need to go into town for others. Everything works well -- the shower, the wifi, and the TV -- and it was a really comfortable bed. It was nice to have the refridgerator in the room, and everything was very clean. The continental breakfast in the morning was quite good -- great assortment of breads, yougurt, hard boiled eggs, meat and fruit. The patio was lovely -- a nice place to relax at the end of the day. Parking is on the street, and at night or on the weekends, there was never a problem finding a spot -- but during the day, it was hard to find a spot. There is no elevator, so that may bother some folks. And it is located across from a prison; but it really didn't affect our visit -- we felt completely safe.
