Best crab ever eat worldwide
Reviewedeco structure surrounded by nature, simply amazing with a farm for crabs and lobsters. lovely place, golden beach. Far from the city, price affordable. That is a place you cannot miss if you come in the coast. wonderful

ReviewedChe Shale is an institution on the Malindi coast. It's our most popular hotel, and the most in tune with its surroundings. The beach is great as is Ch Sale's position on it. Well worth the ride up frm Malindi and well worth a stay
Rory KA gem!
ReviewedA beauty 20 minutes north of Malindi, at the beach. A special place with houses made from local materials. We had lunch there. The menu was good and with a good variety with seafood, especially crabs, as the main food. We had a small room to ourselves with open air and view towards the beach. The service was excellent and fast enough. The food: Mango and crab stack. It looked appetizing. The crab was good, the mango good and the avocado ripe. The taste ? Mja, I would prefer something else, but others in the company said it was "fantastic and delicious". But the tempura prawns was something I have only tasted in Norway. The tempura crisp and the prawn just done to the point, still moist meat. WOW! The main course: Fritto misto. Mja... There was fortunately good dips and a bottle of stronger peri-peri to encourage me to finish it. Not my favourite. The seaweed in tempura tasted tempura. No wonder since the seaweed was as thin as paper and just one layer. A good idea would have been to make a roll of seaweed and then fry it. Conclusion: Fast service, some of the food excellent. Location marvelous! Will I re-visit? No doubt - I will be there
Abutoma EA little bit of heaven on earth
ReviewedChe Shale is an amazing place, quiet and relaxing and it was so good to be away from it all. We particularly enjoyed the comfortable, natural accommodation as a novel experience and the breezes coming through the windows were much better than artificial air-conditioning. The beach is never-ending and therefore affords wonderful views. The staff cannot do enough for you and are so friendly and approachable. With the early morning tea/coffee brought to the banda, every day gets off to the perfect start. The choice of breakfasts is extensive and this is matched by the variety of dishes available for lunch. Our evening meals were delicious with well-nuanced spices and the menus were not repeated during our 2 week stay. Kite surfing here is excellent and my tuition at the kite school was much better than I had received elsewhere - Chucka made sure that the lessons were tailor-made. Justin and Gussy are excellent hosts, great to talk to and attentive to their guests. Finally, thanks to Pocket for her quiet, unintrusive company on the beach. We will be making another visit in the future - Che Shale is far too much of a paradise to only visit once!
