This is a lovely hotel, with a great location in the centre of Newry, and obviously very popular with the locals, and I found the staff fantastic throughout my stay, whether reception, in the bars or restaurants, always smiling very impressive, apart from the young lady in the granary bar! I will split my review into 3 sections of the things I experienced in the hotel. Room 3/5 Decent size room, nice canal view, unfortunately a very soft bed which left me with a stiff back, no air conditioning which was a blow as even in September the room was 25c, the window opens about an inch, I understand why but I imagine you must roast in the summer months, I was on the 3rd floor and the internet connection was virtually non existent I had to tether off my mobile. Improve these two things and the room is a five, as a business traveller, room temperature and internet are the two most important things. Meal in granary bar 2/5 I checked earlier and was told food orders ended at 9.00 so arrive at quarter to, reasonable menu, although my waitress hurried me up telling me some of them finished at 9.00, I went for a soup starter, which was tasty but tepid rather disappointingly, for main I had the Caesar salad, and rather sadly this was just a splodge of lettuce, dressing and bits of bacon, completely lacking in any visual presentation, the croutons were basically just bread, and not crispy. Not impressed, so ate at the nice Italian over the road the next night, where I enjoyed a very nice meal. Breakfast 4/5 The absolute highlight for me, a great selection, particularly on the cold fruit front, lovely food cooked to order, first day I had semi full Irish and 2nd day a delicious fresh omelette. Only negative the orange juice tasted a bit watery and straight from a pasteurised carton. 9/15 gives it a three out of five I will certainly visit again when I return to Newry, and look forward to trying the main restaurant, and by November the outside temperature will make the room temperature bearable!

Very very old school here if you like that sort of thing. 1980s and 1990s in the bar. The food was good and big portions which we loved. Small ish rooms but no complaints at all. Staff all ok but not great

We had our parents Golden Wedding anniversary party here last night and honestly couldnt fault a thing. Louise was excellent throughout the organisation and Emma was excellent on the evening. All the staff were very attentive and efficient. Nothing was too much trouble and the meal itself was gorgeous. It was a perfect evening and I know they thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you so much.

Celebrated a double 40th birthday here tonight with my family, adults & kids. As usual, the food & service was superb! Anne, the manager on duty tonight was fantastic, she really is on top of everything, right down to safely securing high chairs! Our food was delicious, the timing was appropriate, kids meals were served to keep them happy, and the staff Also did a bit of Birthday Fanfare fuss for us and it was really, really appreciated. Everything was First Rate. We will be back, thank you.

Thursday night tea out with my daughter. Great selection on menu in bar. Chris served me. Very pleasant and well mannered. Had burger. Maybe it was just me but just did not enjoy it. Was very dry. Daughter had baguette she said it was OK. Had garlic potatoes.. Some were hard. Yes I could have complained but didn't or when asked could have said I didn't like it. Prob would not put me off going back. Will try again. 2 main courses and 2 minerals was 30.00. Not too expensive.
