    • Absolutely amazing stay!

      Reviewed 02 July 2019

We booked this hotel to go gorilla trekking. It is approximately 1.5 hours away from Bwindi and about 20-30 minutes from the town Kabale (where the Jaguar bus stopped from Kigali). I cannot say enough about the staff at Lake Bunyonyi View- they are simply incredible and made our stay very comfortable. They made arrangements with our gorilla trekking company and prepared packed lunches for us to take on our trek. The next day they took us on a walk through the village to experience the Monday markets and arranged a boat ride on the lake. But the best and most memorable part of the trip was the visit to the Loving Hearts School/Orphanage. The hotel contributes a portion of the proceeds to benefit the school. Do not miss a visit to see these wonderful children- it is so heartwarming. I like to provide honest feedback for anyone looking for booking recommendations- this hotel is basic. If you are looking for luxury, this is not the place. But the rooms are large and clean. And the bed is comfortable. Also the view from the private balcony is spectacular. The wifi is only accessible from the lounge and at times the electricity goes for small intervals. But again, you are in a small village in Uganda and these things happen regularly. If you have the right expectations, then you will have a fantastic stay at Lake Bunyonyi View.

    • Great view, awesome staff, good food

Beautiful view of the lake from our room, the dining room, and the lobby area. WiFi in lobby with lots of couches to sit and look at the lake. Staff was very friendly, food was good and they were very accommodating to even make us pizza for dinner. Hot water, western toilet, comfy beds in a colorful room, outlets for charging in room. They even have a little white dog named buddy who loves hanging out with guests. We went on a morning canoe ride with a man named Sunday on the lake, and he told us about the history and legends of the islands, as well as some of the community projects to help women and children in the area. Theres a fun zip line/ropes course on one of the close islands if you want an adventure- we only stayed one night so we didnt have time but it looked fun. Great little local hotel, definitely would recommend!

We so enjoyed the time here. The staff did all they could to welcome us and make us feel comfortable. The food is good and rooms are clean. It was a real treat for us. There is a jetty to jump off into the beautiful waters just below the hotel.

    • Became sick and the staff was there to help

      Reviewed 29 November 2018

We where supposed to stay 2 nights but I ended up staying almost a week as I became very sick, they helped us to go to the hospital, and tried to give me the food I needed etc. I booked a gorilla permit and that day I could go because I was sick, I didn't get a refund which was a shame and they could have done something that morning but it was to late and it goes out of their hands. But they did try hard to get me a new permit and it worked,I payed 120 extra and I did the trekking. The room was nice, the service slow but nice, and slow is absolutely normal for africa! Food is fresh but always pretty much the same. At the end we where a bit surprised by the bill, the food seemed quiet expensive, but since they where so friendly. I didn't care too much. The area is nice. The electricity might drop during the whole day... but welcome in Africa, when this happens it is mostly in the whole village! So be prepared with charged powerbanks. The only thing I did not like, there are 2 dogs and one dog is locked up all day inside a small dark doghouse, and they let him out at night, pls let him out during the day, he was a friendly nice dog, who also enjoys the light and sun. I felt too bad for this dog.
