    • Loved every minute of seeing these beautiful turtles

      Reviewed 02 October 2019

This was always top of my list of attractions to see on my holiday/vacation to Texas. I have never been lucky enough to see a turtle in the wild and so was very excited for my visit here. Of course I would prefer turtles to be out in the wild but this place is special because its a hospital for injured turtles. There are some residents but that is only because the injuries they sustained mean that they would never survive out in the wild. I have never seen turtles of this size..I mean some of them are absolutely huge!! I honestly could have stayed here all day, they are such beautiful, gracious creatures. They are doing amazing work to get these turtles rehabilitated and back out into the wild. I highly recommend going to the presentation as you learn a lot about the turtles there and some of the common injuries and ways that we can all help to protect them. There is a gift shop there where you can purchase beautiful souvenirs and you can even adopt one of the turtles there. This place is not to be missed when visiting South Padre Island!!

    • Excellent small attraction

Wasn't sure what to expect thought it may be a tourist trap. Upon entering you see several tanks with rescued turtles and it was fascinating. The empty tanks had signs to explain why they were empty, mostly they were released back to the wild. It's a fun time for young and old and the views off the pier there are very nice. Very educational.

    • See turtles up close like never before!

      Reviewed 01 October 2019

This is a great place to see sea turtles up close and to support a great cause! They have a beautiful education center and amphitheater and daily talks where you can learn about the turtles and the threats humans create for them. In their hospital you can see their rescue turtles up close where you are literally just a few feet away. There isn't too much to do but you can definitely spend a few hours here walking around, reading the signs, and posing with the turtles. And you're supporting a great cause!

    • Visit Since Expansion

Their expansion is great! They now have the turtles being treated and to be released in a separate bldg from the residents. Lots of space and good use of it. Staff very knowledgeable.

    • Quite Interesting

My wife and I were down for a getaway weekend and were told we should definitely visit the sea turtle rescue. It was very informative and interesting. Definitely worth the visit.
