    • The Heyday of Whistler Village

      Reviewed 23 July 2019

Although I am from Quebec and never experienced the beginnings of Whistler and Blackomb as ski resorts, I can relate because I grew up in the fifties and sixties in Quebec skiing in the Laurentians. The ski culture was the same; live to ski! I saw my old skis from the 60's on display. It was a short visit and an interesting one.

    • Small Museum but worth the visit

A small museum with items about the area and the Winter Olympics celebrated there. Its a small grouping of exhibits which is free of charge to view, but donations are appreciated. Visit will take less then an hour and the hostess will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

This is a smaller museum that is easy to get through in an hour or so. Fun facts to read about, great wildlife displays, great photos of what Whistler was 'before' the BOOM! Loved all the Olympics memorabilia, medals, actual closing, pics, etc. Also enjoyed the several videos you can watch about various aspects of Whistler history and the old timers still here! It was definitely worth the time to tour!

Flashback to 2010 and the excitement of the Olympics in Whistler. Grab hold of the torch, don a medal or two and take a selfie of your former Olympic glory. Explore Whistler's beginnings and tid bits along the history of this resort today. Enjoyed the picture of Whistler first mountain bike race outside in the garden before you enter the museum. What model of Kona was it? Couldn't figure out the frame maker as the rear dropouts are unique. Thanks for the memories.

    • If You Must Spend Time Indoors, a Museum is a Great Place to Do It.

As a part-time volunteer in a small museum, I understand how community-based small museums can sometimes struggle to tell their story. The Whistler Museum doesn't. The artefacts and displays are a good mix, with plenty of information about the landscape, the fauna, First Nations, the development of the area, and Whistler as a ski destination. Well worth and hour or two of your time.
