    • Back In The Old Neighborhood at Domilise's

      Reviewed 08 September 2019

Having grown up in uptown New Orleans one of the mainstays of the old neighborhood is Domilise's Po-Boys. I am 63 and probably had my first po-boy there when I was in my early teens if not sooner. The restaurant itself has not changed all that much, at one time it was cash only now they take credit cards. However, the personnel has. Many of the old familiar faces are now gone except for Raymond who has been an employee for 50 years!!! A number of the ladies making the sandwiches have been there a long time and are very pleasant. I always enjoy seeing them when I get to dine there. Now to the food. That has not changed much. Consistent over the years. The roast beef and shrimp po-boys, in my opinion, are a must to get. Both have sauces that add to the flavor. The shrimp po-boy has been picked as the best in New Orleans a number of times. The only negative with Domilse's is if it is busy the wait can be long and because it has a small dining area tables can be hard to come by. A good time to go is later in the day before closing when they are not so busy. You can also eat at the bar. Pricing is comparable to other po-boy restaurants in the area. If visiting New Orleans suggest visit this legendary restaurant.

    • Bad Attitude and Bad Service

      Reviewed 30 June 2019

My wife and I waited for over an hour to place our order. When our turn came, the counter waitress took a group of 5 late arrivals ahead of us. I protested and the counter waitress told me,"this is my family, they come first.

    • Very Good PoBoy--off the beaten path, long wait, hot restaurant

      Reviewed 22 June 2019

I attempted to summarize our experience within the title. We arrived with the line going out the door, but MAKE SURE YOU TAKE A NUMBER, then feel free to go have a seat at a table, or go to the bar and wait your turn. Ladies behind the counter making sandwiches could not be any nicer or motherly if they tried, they are over excited to get a chance to feed you. Seafood PoBoy was very good, but the room can get very hot while waiting with only a few ceiling fans going, but worth the stop if you can handle a little discomfort.

      Reviewed 15 June 2019

Been wanting to eat here for a long time. Wife and I drove there today. Place is very unique, small and good. Its a house in a residential part of town. PO boys were two sizes. Around $11.50 for the small one which was plenty for this big boy. Gotta have a Barqs root beer in bottle with a PO Boy in New Orleans. Its a local thing. Try it. Its better than Diners and Dives make it out. This is one of those visits youll snap some pictures and tell all your friends about it.

    • Nice Dive for a Po Boy

      Reviewed 02 June 2019

Enjoyed a NOLA staple, one shrimp and one oyster PoBoy. The restaurant is definitely off the beaten track, is very small, but had some good eats. Beers were cold and cheese, unless like French quarter, and this spot served as a short reprieve from walking in the heat!
