Quite a nice little hotel in the centre of Carmarthen. Authentic, rustic and old fashioned. Rooms were very clean and the bathroom was recently renovated and modern. Rooms included kettle and tea and coffee facilities, bath/shower, wardrobe, desk and bedside cabinets. Pros: Nice clean rooms Felt safe - large wooden front door closed at night Authentic old Welsh style Info leaflets in the rooms with historic information about the area Tea/coffee and soaps in the room Egyptian cotton towels Nice staff on the bar and reception Cons: Creaky floors and noise from outside No air-con; very hot in summer Quite small rooms (but comfortable) Breakfast took a long time and full English was 1 sausage, 1 egg, 1 bacon, 1 tomato. Waitress on breakfast duty was miserable and cold towards guests. Very short with us and obviously rude and in a bad mood and didn't want to be there. Other than that, it was a lovely stay. Would recommend and probably stay again.

First the welcome is poor, no real smile or pleasantries. The rooms, although obviously recently refurbished, are ok but the room service awful. We struggled for toilet rolls, clean towels and cups etc. We had to buy fly spray on the first day due to the number within the room. The noise outside the hotel at night is ridiculous but then you are in a town centre. Now the breakfast is something else, it is terrible and the 'welcoming' service truly awful. We had croissants which were un-cooked underneath, what looked like deep fried sausages, luke warm milk for cereal and water in a flask for tea, which again was just warm. There was no bin in the breakfast room to put rubbish and the lady serving said "I don't do nights so it's not my problem" . The 'continental' breakfast is a croissant, bit of cheese and ham on a plate! Nobody welcomes you in the morning or asks how your breakfast is. Maybe they don't want to know the answer. Wifi is good. Would we return ? No.

We have stayed for two nights in this 17th century hotel. The rooms a very clean and have good beds and plenty of room for two. We ate at the restaurant for both dinner and breakfast and the food was not only very tasty and locally sourced but there was plenty of it. I would recommend this place to stay as a base for visiting the SW of Wales

This is always our first choice when visiting Carmarthen. Clean, comfortable and surprisingly quiet given its location, we always sleep quite well. Dinner and breakfast good quality and good value, not "ping" meals; always enjoy eating there. Staff are very pleasant and helpful. Great town for shopping lots of things to do in and around Carmarthen and this hotel is central to everything.
