Great location, lovely hosts, clean spacious and welcoming. The owners gave us ideas for restaurants, activities and nothing was a problem. We were so close to the centre of the town, but there was little noise and I had a great sleep

Im a sales rep staying in hotels 25 nights a month. Have experience of whats good and whats not. I have advanced RA so I try and book disability rooms if available. I normally try and avoid cheap accommodation. I avoid Blenheim for motels I have tried so many and not one has ever made me happy ! Id rather stay in Picton or Nelson. I had driven down from Auckland to Wellington 9 hrs . Ferry loading ferry trip unloading 4.5 hrs . So I was in agony . I could not stand ... all the motels were booked out in Picton and Nelson and I needed to stay in Blenheim ... I rung a well known NZ celebrity and asked him where he recommends and he said palms. So I sent them an email. I booked one of their last rooms and had arrived late, the owner had left lights on for me and drawn curtains. On arrival the disability car park was empty which is amazing because so many people take them even though not disabled, the room was at a top of flight of stairs. Uh oh .. but I got up there in I went. What a stunning room, it was like arriving in your own home. The plant was real in the kitchen not plastic, the bed cover was so homely, the internet code was hand written on a Little Rock fast unlimited internet. A desk for my laptop, thats the last thing I remember until 2 am when I woke up ontop of the bed fully dressed. I hopped into the bed and it was one of the best beds I have ever slept in , having a painful disability I dont sleep well but here I slept and slept like a baby! In the morning I had a hot shower fantastic pressure and hopped back into that amazing bed. Checked out at 10 am right to the dot, I didnt want to leave. I have now booked the room for tomorrow night on my journey back to Auckland. Im so excited This is the only place I will stay in Blenheim from now on perfect !! Everyone look past everywhere else and just stay here. Make sure in booking you ask for the rooms with the new beds!! And tell them Bruce sent you

    • OK....ish (not air conditioned....major drawback in Summer)

We arrived in January i.e Summer and it was very hot. This place does not have air conditioning, so we sweltered during the nights. They did provide basic fans but of little use. the motel facilities are pretty meagre and dated. They supply basic and that's all. No pool. Do have wi-fi. Supplies are minimal as owner although pleasant femme very surprised to be asked for extra tea bags or milk...almost as if we were asking for acmes to his bank accounts. There is small supermarket nearby I was huffily informed. Rooms are basic but clean. Bed linen clean, but bed old and uncomfortable . Rooms fairly small and cramped. Very average indeed. I would not stay here again, there are better places for the rate they charge.
