    • Centrally located budget hotel

This hotel is a simple property which is centrally located. It has access to the BRT transportation system and many buses stop opposite the hotel. On arrival at the airport, we walked from the International Terminal to the Local Terminal 2. There are two buses which start their route at the bus stop near to Terminal 2, one of which is # 51, which stops at the Bestay Hotel stop. This stop is after passing the busy intersection at Yang Zi Jiang Road and You Hao South Road. Other buses that stop here include 52,109,909,914,301,311 and 537. The hotel is a little difficult to locate, as there is no sign in English outside. It is located in a beige tiled building, with the elevator shaft with red Chinese characters to the left of the entrance. To the right is a "night and day" shop which is very convenient for snacks and supplies. A short walk up the steps, through a metal detector, and you will be at the lobby. Check in was a bit confusing, as there were no rooms available when we arrived. We were told to wait in the small lobby until a room was cleaned, but decided to leave our bags and go exploring after 20 minutes of waiting. This seems to be a very popular hotel with locals, as people always seemed to be waiting for rooms to become available. When we returned a few hours later, the room was ready, and check in was efficient. The room was simple with two single beds. The hotel shows signs of age, as the carpets in the corridors and the furniture in the room are definitely in need of an upgrade. The WiFi worked well and the room was surprisingly quiet. the only problem that we had, was that water from the shower leaked through a crack in the base of the tub and settled in the room. The hotel has the benefit of being centrally located, and within walking distance of nearby attractions such as Peoples Park, Yao Mo Shan and Red Hill. We would recommend this hotel for backpackers or travelers on a budget. Note that the elevator does not work unless you swipe the room card before pressing the buttons.

    • A terrible place to stay

Location is good and price is ok. However the condition is horrible. Booked through a famous international site but it did not allow me to write a comment after checking out. The carpet is so dirty. It is next to a night club with loud music. Room is tiny and dark with a tiny window. The corridor is dark. I read comments from others whom were kicked out of their rooms in the midnight by policemen last year. Luckily it didnt happen to us. We moved to another hotel the next day.

I read many bad reviews about this place from booing.com but I need to booked it because it was few hotels that accept foreigner. However, when I was there, it not that bad as reviews. The room was comfy and full equipped. The location and transportation are the best. There are many restaurants and convenient stores around.

We visited in late November 2014 and were told they can no longer accept foreigners. The guy at reception didn't speak any English but was very kind, and with the help of Baidu translator he made us a reservation at the nearby JinJiang Inn (part of the same chain of hotels) at a bargain price.

I am an expatriate, and I often. Stay here when visiting Urumqi. I cannot tell you if the staff speaks English; however they are friendly and helpful. Rooms are small. For some reason many of the bathrooms have transparent glass walls - so you might ask about that if you are traveling with companions. Rooms are very small, but clean. follow the hotel on Chinese social media client, Wechat, and get a discount.
