We stayed a Saturday night. Breakfast area was very busy Sunday morning, but the breakfast ladies did a great job handling it. If you stay in the first floor, many (all?) rooms have a sliding door to the outside which many guests took advantage of (to enjoy the evening sitting outside). Will stay again.

Room was a good size and clean. Sleep was very good and the bed was clean. The shower was very good but the towels lightly smelled like they were washed with dining room linens. There were "lumps" in the top bed cover (comforter?) and looked a bit weird, as if "things" were in there. We were told that the bedding was in process of upgrading and they were sorry that we had one of the few old, yet very clean, ones.

This is the first time we have stayed here (4 nights) since it became a Quality Inn, but we have stayed many times previously. The staff were more welcoming and friendly than before.and the breakfast was excellent, though it only had a choice of 2 cooked foods, usually scrambled eggs and sausage or bacon. There are many choices of other breakfast foods, and excellent orange juice. We did have a problem with the smell of tobacco in our room, We were told that a smoker had stayed in the room 4 weeks previously (it is a non smoking hotel) and he would have been fined for smoking, but the staff had not been successful in removing the unpleasant odour, unfortunately, though they tried. Then we were told that the smoke traveled from the floor below, via the small window and air conditioning. This has never happened before however! We decided not to change to another room as we had unpacked everything, as the smell was hidden on our arrival. We also had a problem with the shower the water was either scalding hot or freezing cold. We reported this, but were offered no compensation.

Booked two nights for a conference. A bit off the main drag/downtown. Easy check in, friendly and efficient front desk staff who readily switched us to rooms away from the highway. Not much in the immediate area but shops and amenities were close enough if needed. I still like a paper map of the city to refer to but not available; it seems to be an anachronism these days. Free hot breakfast, on-site gym (neither used). Room was very clean and simply appointed (yay for blackout curtains that actually close). Bathroom amenities were very basic - though not replaced for the second day. Decent (ie not too small, or thin) towels. Price point what youd expect for what you get. Would stay again.

The good things about the hotel: -free parking -breakfast was way better than I had expected (there were bagels, yogurt, english muffins, cereal, waffles, etc - just avoid the eggs but I thought it was so much variety - loved it -nice that it had a mini fridge in the rooms -loved that they let teams hang out in their lobby in the evenings - not every hotel allows that. The bad things about the hotel: -we got a first floor room and I would not recommend this if you are a non-smoker. In the first room the smoke smell was so strong so we asked to change rooms which they did. But the second room was just as bad - there was just this awful perfume smell that they use to try and mask the smoke smell. I think smokers might ask for first floor rooms because they have sliding doors outside so people must be smoking inside their rooms. -on the second night one of our friends rooms had the strongest smell of marijuana - it permeated in the hallways. -rooms are very dated (tiny bathroom and rust around the tiny bathtub) -we were there during our provincial volleyball weekend and because of that it was so over-priced. And then on top of taking advantage of teams having to stay in the ohtel because of the tournament stay and play rules, they also wouldn't honour CAA discount (although it was advertised on the wall over the front desk) It wasn't all bad at this hotel - I would just recommend you go in with realistic expectations.
