    • A bit disappointing

      Reviewed 30 September 2019

We were looking forward to staying here after a rather cramped few days in a cheaper hotel elsewhere, particularly to having some room to unpack and move around. While this hotel advertises large room sizes, a large part of our room was taken up by a sort of entrance-way by the door then a wide "corridor" around the bathroom that could not be used for anything, so ending up a bit cramped again. The loo was in the opposite corner of the room to the bathroom, making using the loo then washing your hands really difficult at night! But the bed was comfortable (so important) and there was no noise so we slept really well. I see they are installing air conditioning - that will be a good improvement. After one hot night we asked them to make our bed up with just a sheet, which they happily did and it was much better. We managed to unpack all our things, although there wasn't so much space in the bathroom so our washbags ended up on the floor. The wi-fi was poor and barely worked at all in our room. Putting the car in the lift to get to the garage was weird - don't try this if you have any form of claustrophobia! I don't know why the reception staff wouldn't let us unload our bags at the door, to save having to drag them through the underground corridors to the lift. But the location is superb - just what we wanted right in the centre of the old town with all the sights, shops, bars & restaurants to hand. The breakfast at 16 Euros each was not anywhere near worth it. After our cheap first hotel with breakfast included and freshly-squeezed orange juice on tap this was extremely disappointing. The buffet is very small without much variety of breads or other foods. Fortunately there are several little cafes nearby that offer excellent low cost breakfasts. These are really all quite small niggles, and for me the two most important things about any hotel are the location and the sleep quality, and these were both very good, once we'd got rid of the heavy duvet. But for a pricier hotel that sets out to be so good, we felt it just didn't quite cut it.

    • Right in the Center of Town

This hotel is in the center of town a short walk from the town square filled with restaurants, cafes and pubs. Parking is available, most with a car elevator for underground parking. The room we had was recently renovated, modern and fairly spacious for a French hotel. Coffee, tea and water is available in the room, the bathroom had very nice Nuxe toiletries. The rooms are named after French authors and there are books in all the rooms, something different.

    • Expensive Hotel

      Reviewed 20 September 2019

We stayed here for one night, the entrance outside the hotel is in need of repair the floor tiles are all loose and one can easily fall over. The reception person that was on duty when we arrived was very abrupt. Our room was very small and on the top floor. The curtains in the room did not meet in the middle so let a lot of light in. Breakfast was 16 euros per person extra and was not value for money. The breakfast buffet was very small and you had to serve your self coffee/tea from a machine which took ages and you only ended up with half a cup of coffee. I think at 16 euros coffee/tea should be served. The hotel was definitely not value for money. I think you need to train your reception staff on welcome techniques. Sorry but will not be staying again

    • Friendly hotel very conveniently situated in the heart of old Rouen

      Reviewed 19 September 2019

This is a perfect hotel if you are looking for a place to stay conveniently located in the old part of Rouen. Finding the hotel by car is not easy as it is approached via the pedestrian streets. Cars are parked underground using a lift. Beware of being in a heavy car as the max loading is 2300 kgs. The receptionists are very friendly and efficient. The rooms are perfectly adequate but some have no view. The breakfast is excellent with a wide variety of choices that should suit all tastes. Immediately outside the hotel entrance are many restaurants and an outdoor market. Not far away is the immense gothic cathedral. Highly recommended.

    • Gorgeous little hotel in perfect location

We were originally going to book the more expensive hotel in Rouen Bourgtheroulde but Im so glad we changed our minds last minute. This quaint special little hotel that feels very unique was all we could have asked for. Yes you do have to get a code to enter the road, a simple call to the hotel- not sure why this seems an issue-it actually makes it safer and tbh quite vip! The staff were very helpful upon arrival, the parking very safe and quite exciting going down into a lift! The room was just what we needed to sight see in Rouen, clean, the beds so comfortable! Lovely toiletries! Loved reading all the little bits relating to the novelist Gustave. All in all it was a great place to stay for 2 nights. Im a glass half full person and I give honest reviews, some people just like to moan for a refund or perhaps for sakes moaning! Book it! Oh and try Cancan restaurant- delicious!
