Just returned from a week's stay at la solara. As others have commented and we would endorse the hotel is spotless and the staff could not be more helpful. The decor could definitely do with an update to bring it into the 21st century but that is not the fault of the hotel which is immaculately maintained by the hard working team. The pool is a delight with no early rush to secure a sunbed on the terrace during the day and with wonderful evening sunset views over the bay. Free courtesy bus is always prompt on the hour from the hotel and return 1/4 past the hour from collection point and made trips into town easy, just as well as taxi from centre of town cost 25! A good base for exploring, Pompeii or the Amalfi coast via the ferries, trains, or sightseeing buses which can be easily accessed from the city centre. Somewhat limited by its location high in the hills for a leisurely stroll. Nearest harbour which you can see from the hotel is a steep hike away, not for the mobility challlenged. Didn't try the gala night but those who did expressed a very positive experience. They know their core customer base well, primarily older repeat visit couples who enjoy the individual recognition by an established staff team. Personally for me the food was mediocre, although others loved it, nothing inedible except a carbonara for lunch one day which looked more like scrambled eggs but for me the food quality was more 3 star than 4. We ended up swapping 3 evening meals for the lunch option and eating in town as a result. No evening entertainment except a 70s style keyboard and singer three nights during the week and generally the bar was empty the evenings albeit very well serviced by the excellent Angelo. However, overall a very good value for money hotel and would thoroughly recommend if you appreciate a quiet hotel and somewhat older hospitality style as a base for your own exploration. Final tip.. avoid the Tui excursions.. cheaper options to be found in town easily.

    • Brilliant little hotel

My wife and I stayed here for a weeks holiday to Sorrento. The location of the hotel is on the outskirts of the town, so is fairly quite in general. The hotel provides a free curtesy bus to the town centre on the hour every hour until late. This is invaluable as to walk to town would require to walk along the road, which is not advisable as there are no pavements. The hotel itself is lovely and clean, the food is very good with excellent menu choices, we where on half board, and ate out in Sorrento only once in the evening, as we more more than happy with the hotel restaurant. Id like to mention Nello and Nilo especially for their excellent and attentive waitering skills in the restaurant great job guys. The hotel pool area provides plenty of sun beds on a large sun terrace with a good size pool and a shaded snack bar area for food and drinks. Overall we where very happy with our stay here at the La Solara and would definitely recommend it to anyone, as the title a brilliant little hotel with the service and quality you would expect from a major hotelier group, as Best Western.

We received a warm welcome after a bus ride from Naples and were greeted like long lost friends by the manager and reception. The standard was very comfortable with our spacious balcony room overlooking the sea. The breakfast was plentiful with a variety for all tastes and diets whilst the evening meal had the salad bar to start and 3 courses was of a very high standard similar to what we have had on cruises. The Gala evening on Sunday was very memorable. The pool bar provided snacks during the day and bar prices were good. Yes anyone who appreciates a comfortable hotel will not be disappointed . Well done to all the staff

We stayed at La Solara for a week 13-20 September, never been before but was encouraged by the many positive reviews we had read. We would just love to add to that and say what a wonderful stay we had. The hotel is spotless, light and airy. Staff - it seems their whole purpose is to make every guest feel special and nothing is too much trouble. The food is amazing - only down side is our expanding waistlines as we couldnt resist trying everything - it was first class the ambiance and service was comparable to eating in a good restaurant. We would like to thank management and the whole team from reception, waiters, bar staff, pool man, cleaners and the shuttle bus driver, all so polite. A special mention for Angelo at the bar, such a wicked sense of humour and to Raphael who always remembered my straw with drinks! Management should go into business teaching their Customer Service strategy to others - they would make a fortune! I would recommend this hotel to all age groups.

    • A Hotel that you do not want to leave!

Yes it is in Sorrento, yes it looks over the beautiful Bay of Naples and the islands of Ischia and Capri in the turquoise Mediterranean... yes it has a lovely pool and sun bathing decks... but what makes this hotel special is their philosophy of service quality, which begins with staff where nothing is a problem, and your enjoyment is uppermost. From Reception and Hotel Management to the Maitre D and his waiters and chefs to the Bar and Pool staff and finally the Maids and drivers there is a consistency of approach and training. The hotel is spotless, the menu and food is great with something for everyones taste... real Italian classics and local food and wines. Bar and music nights or just quiet lounge with a book... all is there. Hard to summarise this hotel as its a feeling..... contentment
