Casa Palmieri is in a great location, just inside the city gates, and backing onto Palazzo Palmieri. As it's situated inside the historic centre you have to park outside this pedestrianised area, but at a reasonable charge (make sure you show your parking ticket in the windscreen, despite inputting your number plate into the parking machine!) We had a very characterful (albeit cosy) room, with a stone vaulted ceiling. The bathroom was equipped with hand wash, shower cream, and hair dryer. The hosts, Marina and Filippo couldn't have been more friendly and hospitable, and gave us many local tips on sights to visit, and recommended places to eat. Every morning we had an extensive breakfast, which was served at tables sitting outside, in the little cosy square outside the b&b. We were served muesli, yoghurt, blood orange juice, bread and jams, special local cured ham, cheese, homemade cakes by Marina, fresh coffee (recommend the cappuccino with a unique presentation!) The air conditioning kept the room nice and cool. One of the highlights of the accommodation was the roof terrace, with sea view (through buildings) for the use of clients. This was a great place to relax, read, or have a drink. We were very impressed with Monopoli, and glad we stayed here (2 nights) as there was a good choice of restaurants, and a few nice wine bars for evening drinks. Possibly a better alternative to Polignano al Mare. There are numerous rocky coves and sandy beaches right next to the town, some of which are free (spiaggia libera) without facilities, whilst others are attrezzate (offering a sunbeds at c 8\each, sun umbrella at c 8 per day, drinks and snacks, shaded parking at 3\day.

Maria is the best host ever! This lady is a wonderfull story teller and a little magician with this small and chique b&b! Rooms are lovely and very clean! Everything works and is in perfect condition. We visited Monopoli in a very cold february day and the a/c in the room saved us :) Maria had turned in on before we got there just to make sure the room is warm. Breakfast is great with good coffee, prosciutto, cheese, fresh bread, butter and jam but most importantly, home made pastry!! The restaurant recommendations of Maria were again a good culinary experience! Stay here and fall in love with Monopoli like we did!

Second stay and just as spectacular. Spotlessly clean and unbelievably friendly host. Breakfast is fantastic with awesome coffee and cakes. Great location and Maria has lots of information about Monopoli and its restaurants. Rooms are in the old city so are naturally small but thats the charm of this beautiful place. Price is extremely reasonable. Will definitely be back as soon as we can. Youd be stupid to go anywhere else.

This trip to Puglia has been full of discoveries. I have been to other parts of Italy and I have loved them all, but Puglia has found a very special place in my heart: the beauty of its landscapes, the charm of its towns and villages, the blue of the sea, the history in every corner, the richness of its food and, best of all, the warmth of its people. Arriving late at my chosen B&B, I received a very warm welcome. In the morning, when I arrived for breakfast my hosts, Maria & Filippo, were so warm and helpful, genuinely so. Breakfast is not for the faint-hearted, its really generous (with delicious patisserie freshly baked every morning at the premises) and your hosts will take offence if you dont finish it or send you on your sightseeing with a little doggy bag of anything you were not able to finish. Breakfast time is very busy, but they have time for a chat with all their guests. Nobody can leave feeling anything less than welcome and special. Monopoli itself is a beautiful place full of history, with beautiful views of the sea. Hiring a car and driving around the nearby locations is worth your time, you will not be disappointed in any way. My 4 days there for a local wedding went quickly but all times I felt cherished and looked after by my hosts, I really felt at home while away from home, not always easy! Grazie mille e a presto!

My wife and I spent a lovely week in the Palmieri with Maria and her husband Fillippo. They are truly wondrous hosts and their attention to detail both at their properties and the way they present the wonderful breakfast is a delight. When we arrived we were upgraded to one of their apartments complete with vaulted ceiling, a fabulous property that has been thoughtfully and tastefully restored. The breakfast is varied with cereal juice coffee bread cheese and ham and the most delicious cakes and pastries and the souffle cappuccino that Maria make for you.Grazie mille Maria e Fillippo!
