    • Nothing compares to Barahi!

3 days were the best vacation we have ever had! The best part about barahi isn't their gorgeous location or delicious food or their cosy rooms - it's their service and attention to detail that will make you fall in love with them. We thoroughly enjoyed their jeep and boat safaris and highly recommend to try them along with the jungle walk. And the best memory we have is of the sun downer at the confluence of two rivers. It's was such a stunning sunset and we enjoyed their BBQ. The gm and their staff are always looking forward to besting your experience the previous and go the extra mile to take care of you. And yes if you are staying for more than two nights something very interesting awaits you.

You might have heard about hybridized travel modes like Glamping or Flash Packing, but I believe the Barahi Jungle lodge has conceptualized & mastered an entirely new breed of travel experience called Glodging. A tasteful mix of glamorous abode in the wilds combined with regulated indulgence, eco-friendly diligence, and decadent home-style pampering! This is probably one of THE best eco-lodges we have ever stayed in across the globe, and surely deserves to be a part of the elite blue-lists and clubs, but unfortunately (or luckily for itself) still flying under the radar! We couldnt believe that we were chilling out in one of the most Romantic Jungle Lodges at the edge of a forest in a Himalayan Country! And the fact that we were the ONLY guests in the entire property only made the sweet experience even more Honeyed! Apart from their luxurious settings, The best experiences of the trip were our interactions with Rani-kali, Tulsi-Kali, Shoba-kali and Raj-Kali the Barahi Lodges resident elephant family. The first day we had privileged to chill out with the younger sisters - up close and personal right next to the pool area while we were savoring chai made with the finest Himalayan tea leaves. The next day the interaction got even more personal (for the pachyderms) as we were allowed to get even closer and feed them, pet them and also give them a bath. Never have we been this close to the moody giants of the animal kingdom and especially, engage with them directly. One of the most memorable animal encounters weve had. LOCATION: Right next to the Rapti River and in the fringe of the core National park DINE + DRINK: While everything we tasted at the property was excellent, the meal that stood out the most was the Thali we were served for lunch. They were carefully composed combos of fine food whose sole purpose seemed to be endowing one with the ability to tastefully experience heaven on earth! All through our travels, weve had the privilege of being able to experience some wicked sundowners a classic jungle exercise of savoring a surreal sunset while sipping on your favorite drink. But the one in Barahi Jungle lodge was a bit unique. Our Naturalist guide heard about our obsession to always enjoy a new sunset at a new destination in a unique way and decided to do something special to make the Terai Sundowner stand out for us. He got the lovely staff to organize a special table right on the helipad with a spectacular view of the Rapti river. And the glowing lanterns around the helipad and the screaming pink sky that was appearing post sunset only made the experience even more supremely special! Suddenly even the light-weight Gorkha beer seemed to taste like the nectar of the Gods! And Just when we thought we have been treated to all kinds of magical surprises, Mr.Varun had something way more surreal in store for us! To make the romantic retreat even more dreamy, he completely astonished us by organizing a surreal dinner in the bush! The greenery that was glittering with dozens of sexy hurricane lanterns, highly attentive staff attending to your needs, the rhythmic buzz of the jungle residents, free-flowing fine wine, delicious local cuisine. My oh my - Words cannot explain what we saw, felt or experienced. So, I will let the pictures do the talking! ROOM: We stayed in the only SUITE bungalow they have, so this review is based on that. While a stay at this wonderful eco-lodge was magical just as it is, the lovely manager of the property made it even more Suite(er) by throwing in a huge surprise for us - since had read about media articles covering our travels. We were upgraded to one of the best Jungle Villa Suites we have ever stayed in - absolutely free of charge! The suite was so huge, it was much bigger than our apartment back home in Malaysia. It even had its own private party area in the colossal backyard that came loaded with a massive private pool, fireplace sit out, dining table, and a barbecue area! Now, thats one wicked retreat! FACILITIES: No Gym. But a fantastic Jungle feel POOL right next to the river! SERVICE: Friendly staff that took care of all my needs with a smile and made us feel pampered and well taken care of. Special Shout out to TEZ at the restaurant, SAKET our naturalist and of course the MAN who made it all magical - Mr. VARUN HOW WIRED YOU WILL BE: Free high speed Wi-Fi that works well all over the property. Big Plasma TV screen dishing out dozens of channels spanning sports, news, music, movies and a wide variety of entertainment in multiple languages

Its simply amazing!! Reaching there is slightly a concern, however once you are there, you are in different world. Varun - GM makes sure that every single detail is well taken care of. Jungle theme, pool, next to Rapti location, good guides, boat safari, elephant safari and best amongst all is Elephant bathing. Food - Limited options but whatever they do is good Highly recommended!!

I have nothing new to say but just repeat what has been said in almost all of the reviews. An extraordinary place which has been built so consciously to support not only the ecosystem but empowers the locals at the same time, without compromising on anything. Luxury without guilt. I spent almost a week there with my four year old and we had never felt so connected with not just nature but with ourselves too. it was love at first sight. The interiors are breathtaking and everything is so simple yet exotic. I appreciate that they use no plastic and have a proper waste management system as well coz these factors are game changer for me. Jungle safari, boat ride, village tour everything adds a different flavour to your soul. I am glad that my little one could see animals in their natural habitat, free and happy and not in zoos in captivity. We got to see a Leopard too up and close and it was breathtaking, literally. This could only happen because of the sharp skills of our Naturalist Anuja as she recognised the signals of deers and alerted us that something majestic is around. And how can I not mention the elephants, beautiful souls full of life and love. Tulsi and rani stole my daughters heart and she still misses them. Staff is super helpful and kind. Food is healthy and delicious. They have a common area with lots of games for children that kept my little one busy and happy. I can like write a book about the charm this place and it wont be enough. I will be visiting very soon though, if that matters.

The beautiful concept and then the helpful/charming/smiling people. Loved every bit of the stay and hope that get a chance to visit the place with our group again. Nature at its best but only if there could be activities for our tiny ones so that they could play by themselves.
