A shopkeeper in town directed us here. What a great recommendation. We arrived at 1230 and the line was a little long but we were able to order in a short time. The counter staff was very friendly and forgiving of an unfamiliar tourist. We ordered 3 Panini and 3 water for a total of 15. We found a table and were able to sit and eat. After we got our food, the line became very long. I can understand how they have been in business for so long, great customer service, rapid service and good quality food.

    • Rude to tourists

We had planned to go here months in advance before our trip to Florence. We made a special trip to the market for this institution and left so disappointed! The young man taking our order was pleasant enough, but the older man making up the lampradotto panini was truly awful, the rudest we encountered in our 6 week trip. We were standing there, next in line and multiple served locals standing behind us first, then rolled his eyes at us when we ordered, and I'm sure just to be spiteful then didn't dip our bread in the broth like he did everyone else's. The experience left a bad taste in our mouths, it was disappointing. The panino wasn't even that great, although ours didn't have the broth which I'm sure makes all the difference. Can't recommend.

    • Great panino!

The sandwiches from here are outstanding - both the panino with roast beef and the one with porchetta were brilliant! Its really well priced for such great local food. The porchetta is well cooked and doesnt look as fatty as elsewhere. The roast beef is perfectly cooked! Both come on a local roll with cooking juices, really simple, but amazing!

What a great place to try some of the local Tuscan food, bargain for some gifts outside and then have lunch here. There is always a bit of the queue as this place is in demand but its defintely worth it. Try the trippa alla fiorentina for that "must try local flavor.. you will either love it or hate it!! If you get it though, you will be here for seconds. Must visit for the foodies out there.

    • Must experience!

Found this place online when we were first getting into the city and wanting a no frills lunch. After finding our way into the market we were overwhelmed by the huge crowd and confused by the handwritten menu stuck on the back wall. Luckily, we didnt let this deter us and after assessing the situation for a few minutes, jumped into the organized chaos. Get in line and order up a sandwich or plate with the cashier and then take your ticket and go down the line to the sandwich maker and give him your ticket and let him know what you ordered. Before you know it you will be biting into one of the juiciest, most delectable sandwiches you can imagine. The lamparetto is quite popular but if lamb isnt your thing, definitely go for the panino bollito! Boiled beef sliced to order and topped with salsa verde and a red chili sauce and finished off with the bun taking a quick dip into the meat juices before being handed over the counter ready for you to enjoy. The best part is, these sandwiches are <5!! Dont miss out, seriously!!
